Job Summary:
This position supports Thermo King US and Puerto Rico logistics at the SBU level, working closely with corporate to support transportation and distribution requirements. This position must identify and engage with internal stakeholders to capture logistics requirements and ensure provider qualification and quality. Responsible for executing logistics strategy within the SBU. Responsible for delivering logistics productivity through price, quality, value analysis (VA) or continuous improvement projects. Responsible for SBU continuity of support including actively monitoring and mitigating provider risk.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for identifying, delivering, and reporting logistics productivity projects through price, value analysis (VA) or continuous improvement
- Responsible for supporting countermeasures, target setting and achievement for productivity projects
- Responsible for managing project timelines, resources, and expected benefits
- Responsible for the coordination of day-to-day operations with site materials/logistics teams and 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) providers, including expedites and critical shipment tracking and tracing
- Responsible for SBUs continuity of logistics, engaging with plants to resolve escalated issues and formally manage and secure provider capacity
- Responsible for reporting, mitigating, and recovery of logistics inflation
- Responsible for development, implementation, and deployment of standard work for functional area of responsibility
- Support deployment of OTM and other IT initiatives within the SBU
- Support Logistics development and reporting for month end activities regarding cost, quality, and delivery
- Support visibility solutions that enable users to seamlessly access and share data regarding logistics cost, transit times, and real-time market conditions
- Cross-functional collaboration with procurement, operations and SBU sites for identifying normal versus abnormal with key performance indicators for freight spend across modes
- Responsible for SBU Logistics problem solving using lean tools and techniques that clearly demonstrate improvements
- Perform other duties associated with domestic or international logistics as required while maintaining a customer focused approach
- Network, manage, influence, and develop industry relationships to gain knowledge to support communications and improvements of the international logistics supply chain.
- Support QBR's w/ Logistics Procurement team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, logistics operations and/or project management
- Ability to think, communicate and act at the strategic level
- Well-developed Project Management skills
- Some experience using lean techniques, continuous improvement, and problem-solving tools
- Candidate must have some experience in facilitating, consulting, and conflict resolution
- Professional communication; both verbal and written are required
- 2+ years of experience in domestic and international logistics operations, including import/export functions and freight procurement are preferred
- Understanding of SBU transportation requirements and solutions is preferred
- Understanding of incoterms, customs formalities for imports and exports is desired
- Understanding of rate structures for all modes of transportation is desired
- Experience to tactically execute all modes of transportation, including drayage management is desired
- Transportation experience across all modes is desired
- Ability to travel up to 15%
