Inside the Role
The Engineering Systems team is responsible for being the experts of all CAD/PDM systems and processes used by DTNA Engineering. Tasked with implementing strategic initiatives that improve the systems and processes necessary to Engineer the Best Trucks, the team overcomes cross-departmental boundaries by building close partnerships with Engineering, DTNA's local IT, Daimler's global IT departments, and 3rd party suppliers. Additionally, the team maintains a competitive awareness of technology trends and utilizes promising trends to bring value to Engineering. The ideal Product Owner candidate will have a blend of computer science skills, agile leadership experience, and engineering process knowledge. Candidates with a proven history on teams that deliver innovative systems and processes are well suited for this position.

In this position, you will play a key role in the DTNA's transition to a new PDM (Product Data Management) system. The new PDM, based on Siemens Teamcenter, is called PLATON and replaces the legacy system SMARAGD. This is a global implementation for all of Daimler Truck. Your role's focus is the North American business unit's use-cases and global alignment of any common use-cases. Specific areas of use-case topics include Structure, Release Process, Data Migration, Data Exchange, CAD, and DMU. You will provide ongoing communication and 2nd level support to users of the new PDM. Finally, you will play a supporting role in the continuous improvement, maintenance, and administration of many other DTNA engineering systems.

The ideal candidate will have a very strong understanding of DTNA or another large companies engineering systems as well as an ability to facilitate positive communication across multiple engineering departments.

Position offers a starting salary range of $82,000 - $104,500 USD
Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Develop user-acceptance-testing of DTNA specific methods and best-practices. Execute regression testing of incremental deployments.
  • Create and maintain tip-sheets and training materials.
  • Assist in providing DTNA specific training courses, On-The-Job (OJT) guidance, and general support.
  • Provide DTNA specific communication, including communication with DTNA business units such as FCCC and TBB.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and preform quality assurance tests of data migration from the legacy PDM to the replacement PDM.
  • Advocate for DTNA requirements within the global Daimler project team.
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college and prefer 3 years of relevant experience or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required.
  • Strong knowledge of product data management (PDM) systems and processes required.
  • Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) principles required.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools required.
  • Ability to understand and document business processes such as tip sheets, training materials, or other technical documentation required.
  • An attached resume required.
  • Ability to travel as needed required.
  • Excellent writing, reporting, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams required.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Experience with DTNA's Product Documentation system (IMACS) for Part and BOM documentation, and Release preferred.
  • Experience with DTNA's Engineering Data Management system (Smaragd) for Part and DMU BOM documentation, Release preferred.
  • Experience with DTNA's CAD system (NX) for Part and DMU BOM documentation and Synchronization to Smaragd preferred.
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter Unified Architecture (TcUA) preferred.
  • Experience with large engineering system implementations and deployments preferred.
  • Formal education in engineering, computer science, or a related field (preferred).
