Thames & Kosmos is looking for a talented, smart, motivated, and experienced professional to join our growing educational toy and game company. Our expert team publishes and distributes educational science and craft sets for children as well as board games for all ages. Job Description


Product Development

  • Work with Product Development Team on all aspects of developing new products
  • Help track and manage product development schedules and product changes
  • Co-manage all aspects of the product safety testing program, ensuring that all TK products are in compliance with standards, laws, and regulations. Document TK product testing procedures and practices
  • Create prototypes of board games and science kits in development
  • Test product usability and functionality; communicate improvements to developers
  • Design and develop lessons and experiments for science kits and toys
  • Write and edit instructional copy, user education materials, explanatory scientific copy, and product marketing copy
  • Manage translation and execute localization for science kits and games
  • Edit copy and layouts for product manuals and other product assets in InDesign
  • Build models of products for Sales and Marketing teams as needed
  • Conduct user testing and user research for the purpose of product improvements

Technical Support

  • During peak months (December through January) and when volume dictates, provide courteous and prompt product technical support to end-users via ZenDesk, email, and phone
  • Fulfill orders for replacement parts as needed

Skills/Qualifications

Required:

  • Exceptional productivity, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Clear and organized communication skills: oral, written, and visual (sketching)
  • Team player with a positive attitude and the confidence that candidate can solve problems and figure things out
  • Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities and projects
  • A love of games and toys!

While not all required, the candidate selected will likely have some of the following:

  • Knowledge of consumer product safety laws, especially as they apply to toys and children’s products
  • Experience with toy or other consumer product development and/or publishing
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Hands-on experience in making things
  • General knowledge of game fabrication, printing, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong computer skills. Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator skills are a plus
  • Visual-spatial skills, ability to visualize and sketch three-dimensional objects
  • Experience demoing and teaching games at conventions
  • German language skills (writing and speaking) a strong plus

  • Full-time position. Salary commensurate with experience.
