About the role:
The Product Supply Network Engineer (PSNE) will support the supplier resiliency workstream for Large Power Systems Division within E&T Purchasing, with a dedicated focus on Caterpillar Oil & Gas Product. The role requires an analytical and problem-solving approach that produces data and executes key initiatives for critical business requirements. The role will support the LPSD Product Supply Team in the execution of the weekly executive supply reporting. This role will also support the future development of the supply workstream with analysis supporting strategic decisions on sourcing.
Specifically, as the PSNE, you can expect to:
Reporting directly to the Facility Supply Manager, this role will undertake specific Product purchasing responsibility and accountability. It will support the implementation of Product Group strategies while collaborating to align the Category Management supply strategies that will create a competitive advantage for our customers by developing, optimizing, and integrating a world-class supply network.
Strategy:
Through a strong knowledge of the product, NPI, and Category Strategies the incumbent will sponsor, support, and participate in both product and procurement initiatives. Drive supply network collaboration and enhance Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) efforts and/or creating valued new services by leveraging their leading technologies and business knowledge.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Active coordination of data/supply performance details
- Ability to use the Enterprise Digital Order Fulfillment (EDOF) to pull/analyze reports
- Analysis of assurance of supply information from multiple sources
- Production and output of key concise reports to determine supply issues and proactively work with category purchasing teams and suppliers on RCCA
- Able to build Power BI dashboards to monitor health and status of supply
- Understand forecast vs. capacity and other supply vulnerabilities (i.e., single source and region of supply risks) of suppliers impacting Oil & Gas Product to effectively build into Category Purchasing Strategies and proactively identify/mitigate gaps
- Engagement in New Source Introduction to ensure capable and flawless execution in the ability to support Oil & Gas
- Understanding and engagement in Aftermarket Campaigns + Overhaul Schedules to communicate appropriately with the Category Purchasing Teams
- Ensure focus on timely supply and forecasted gaps with the ability to work RCCA
- Escalate/inform Category Purchasing team on BU specific requirements, initiatives, general market conditions, and challenges
- Leverage synergies in supply to proactively negotiate cost reduction opportunities with SPM O&G
Leadership:
- Attendance in senior leader meetings to communicate business requirements, with documented action items as appropriate
- Active participation in Supplier SPM Reviews as they pertain to Oil & Gas products
- Provide E&T Purchasing representation for BU requirements at supplier visits with ability to document and escalate issues upward
- Availability for Oil & Gas customer visits as needed providing details on supply constraints and corrective action / recovery details.
You will have:
- A 4-year college or university degree and 2-4 years of supply chain and/or purchasing experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid Analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skills

- Effective communicator, in written and oral form.
- Well-developed interpersonal and problem-solving skills in dealing with supply issues and reaching consensus on specific actions.
- Fluency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and NPE/Capacity Planning, EDOF tools
