Job description
We are looking to employ a detail-oriented and experienced production planner to create, modify, and manage our production schedule. The production planner’s responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels, regularly providing production status updates to management, and controlling the production schedule for on-time delivery of products to customers. The planner manages shop floor control and feedback to ensure production orders are completed on time and within budget.
The successful production planner is knowledgeable in material requirements planning and scheduling for a highly customized product offering. Production deadlines must be met on-time and in-full across multiple departments and locations. Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills are required to ensure production runs smoothly. Alignment must exist across customer support, manufacturing, and warehouse teams to meet desired service levels and customer requirements.
Full time hours would be 2:00 pm – 10:00 pm CT
Production Planner Responsibilities:
- Evaluating demand in the form of forecast and sales orders, to create supply plans and suitable production schedules that meet promised lead times
- Balancing demand for work-in-process, finished good stock and custom product with scheduled material, equipment, and labor, in coordination with the plant manager and supervisors at multiple production locations
- Addressing and promptly resolving production constraints to minimize delays and wait time in production
- Recommending viable alternatives to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality
- Liaising production schedule change options with sales and operations teams to ensure customer deadlines and customer satisfaction is achieved
- Developing visual status monitors or performance reports to management and supporting lean scheduling and production processes
- Collaborating with inventory analysis team in maintaining supply replenishment plans that meet demand requirements
- Coordinating bills-of-material and routing discrepancies with engineering or continuous improvement manager, as required
Production Planner Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business management, related field, or equivalent experience, is preferred
- Proven experience as a production planner or scheduler
- Sound knowledge of a material requirements plan (MRP)
- Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) accreditation or other relevant certification is advantageous
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or NAV is advantageous
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills
- Ability to maintain production plan continuity and organizational growth by use of cross-training
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Effective communication skills
