Position Description:
  • This position reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for the production planning, training, staffing and manufacturing operations in assigned areas, consisting of management and bargaining unit employees.
  • Determines daily production plans, work assignments and EAC’s for assigned areas.
  • Interfaces/ communicates with people at all levels of the organization (union representatives, VIP’s and customers).
  • Leverages a working knowledge of heavy manufacturing and/or vehicle assembly to ensure capability, quality, safety and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Lead/coach production teams to meet production goals and apply/adhere to established policies and procedures for quality, safety, schedule, conduct.
  • Applies WSBM, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts to engage work teams, resolve production problems and drive performance improvement.
  • Responsible for compliance with all union agreements, handles/adjusts grievances and fosters a working relationship with union representatives for assigned areas.
Position requirements:
  • Must be U.S. Citizen at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain unescorted facility access through vetting process administered by Department of Army Police.
  • Must obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including background check, drug screen, and medical exam.
  • Must meet Anthropometric Size Restriction requirements for military vehicle entry.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required; however, Bachelor’s Degree in a business or engineering related discipline is highly preferred.
  • +7 years manufacturing/production operations experience required.
  • Demonstrated effective planning, analytical and problem solving skills in a fast paced work environment.
  • Experience applying Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing tools required.
  • Ability to interpret and administer Company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience leading in a unionized workforce is preferred.
  • Required to work flexible hours for shift coverage (i.e. overlap, off-shift, fill-in) and be actively on the manufacturing floor.
  • Effective written, interpersonal and presentation skills to interface with all levels of the organization, VIP’s and customers.
  • Must use PC skills, MS Word and Excel, etc.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and preventive / predictive maintenance systems as well as understanding of and experience in operator verification systems is desired.
Working Conditions:

This job is performed in an office and heavy manufacturing environment. It routinely requires walking, sitting, stooping, personal interactions for extended periods, and uses standard office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and phones.

Exposure to manufacturing environments containing noise, odors, temperature changes, lubricants/solvents dust, fumes and moving equipment.Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel; climbing stairs, ladders and work on elevated platforms.Overtime and off-shift work may be required.
