Job Summary

The Institute for Student-AI Teaming (iSAT) experimental research lab is seeking a professional research assistant.

We are looking for a motivated, hard-working individual to help support our research in cognitive science and human-computer interaction. The Professional Research Assistant will assist with the remote data collection, processing, and analysis of data for multiple research projects (see https://www.colorado.edu/research/ai-institute/). You will obtain training in research methods and data analysis in a dynamic and productive research lab, with the possibility of obtaining a letter of recommendation for graduate school and opportunities to co-author research papers.

The National Science Foundation Institute for Student-AI Teaming (www.iSAT.ai) brings together a geographically distributed team from nine universities with partners from academia, K-12 school districts, and industry to address how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can collaborate with students and teachers to promote meaningful learning experiences for all students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Transcribing and cleaning data from iSAT Lab studies.
  • Leading annotation efforts on data from iSAT Lab studies.
  • Supporting organization from iSAT Lab studies as needed.
  • Attending meetings for the iSAT lab as well as relevant iSAT teams.
  • Supporting maintenance of inventory of lab equipment as needed.
  • Supporting iSAT lab session coordination as needed.

  • This is an "On-Call" role.

  • Bachelors degree in psychology, education, neuroscience, computer science or a related discipline.
  • Confident in using office applications (Microsoft Office Suite, G-suite).
  • Motivated, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong people skills - you will be responsible for keeping participants comfortable in the lab setting.

  • Prior research experience, particularly with human participants.
  • Experience collecting data with camera, microphone, eye-tracking and other physiological sensors.
  • At least basic proficiency in any of Python (or an equivalent programming language), R, Block Programming (MakeCode, Scratch), Matlab.
