JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Executive Associate Dean – College of Nursing the Program Director of Student Success and Engagement for the Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for providing referral to resources, consultation and coaching to all College of Nursing students who have academic concerns and/or personal issues that may interfere with the successful completion of their academic program. This position will oversee all initiatives related to student retention programming and engagement programs for incoming students and current students, and intervention efforts for students who are struggling with their higher education transition and/or persistence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Counsels’ students in the areas of time management, stress management, test-taking strategies, identifying available resources, and establishment of goals.
- Serves as a liaison between students and Student Academic Support Services and Inclusion (SASSI).
- Collaborates with appropriate parties to help identify students in need of additional resources; collaborates with students to identify study strategies that are aligned with their own individual learning styles.
- Monitors and communicates non-progression of success plan to respective Program Director, Instructor of Record, and student’s Academic Advisor.
- Works collaboration with the Executive Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, to measure the effectiveness of Student Success and Engagement strategies.
- Supervises the planning, scheduling, promotion, and management of all retention programming planned to support the university-wide goals related to improving student retention and graduation rates.
- Coordinates outreach to students who exhibit the need for additional academic or personal support throughout the academic year and facilitates their connection with appropriate resources.
- Directs all relevant and necessary collection, management, and dissemination of data related to the consultation and coaching.
- Oversees the analysis of data regarding trends in student persistence and retention.
- Provides leadership and oversight of academic- and student-focused activities, to include New Student Orientation, Nursing Student Government Association, and other student-facing events.
- Edits, updates, maintains, and disseminates the College of Nursing faculty workload document that includes all courses taught in BSN, DNP, and PhD programs and the faculty assigned to each course for each term.
- Performs other duties as necessary.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in counseling, education, or related field of study
EXPERIENCE: Five years’ experience in student advisement and developing/evaluating strategies for student academic performance success; to include three (3 years’ experience in an academic higher education setting prior experience with the assessment of student learning outcomes including mining data for analysis and dissemination. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to present ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
- Strong administrative skills and is effective working with teams.
- Demonstrates understanding of the assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrates understanding of teaching and learning, high academic standards, and student success.
- Possesses strong computer skills, including proficiency with computer systems such as Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Banner, CAS, and Oracle.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may be required to travel to various campuses throughout the state and be amenable to occasional working evenings and weekends.
