We’re looking for a self-starter who exudes curiosity and enthusiasm to join Nordstrom’s Legal team supporting various lines of business, including Nordstrom’s Loyalty and Payments teams. This role manages a structured approach to create efficiency and effectiveness, create timelines, build clear accountability, identify cross-divisional stakeholders, and facilitate progress reporting against the compliance program goals and strategies. The ideal candidate for this position is experienced in understanding consumer compliance laws and regulations in areas such as credit card business, rewards programs, and excels in self-motivation, attention to detail, project management, and developing key relationships with business partners.
A day in the life…
- Support the Nordstrom compliance team to shape and influence a culture of compliance throughout the credit card business through communication, training, and key knowledge sharing
- Partner with the Compliance team to enhance/mature the compliance program and guide execution and implementation of program strategies and initiatives, including oversight of change management execution
- Develop a broad and detailed understanding of the organization’s risk landscape, culture, and technology
- Identify and drive strategic plans to prevent, eliminate, and/or mitigate risks with varying solutions
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners by addressing issues/concerns in a timely manner and support a culture of risk-based decisions
- Create a process for strategy, priorities, goals, and business reviews within the compliance program while ensuring alignment and integration of the broader company process
- Drive collaboration and alignment across functions promoting close partnerships to break down silos and drive shared objectives
- Perform ongoing compliance and operational program risk assessments and manage impact/mitigation solutions; proactively identify and remove obstacles and escalate as appropriate
- Evaluate and analyze business results regularly to proactively identify issues and provide improvement recommendations
- Manage and support internal and external audits and exams, internal projects, and compliance processes
You own this if you have…
- Minimum of 5+ years of banking and/or retail compliance, financial audit, or leading change and/or end to end program management and process improvement experience
- Experience overseeing the operational aspect of a risk and/or compliance program, such as developing and/or implementing systems and processes
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills and proven ability to flex between strategic thinking and effective execution
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational skills to drive vision and strategy
- Solution oriented team player, with a track record of accountability, speed, and of identifying and implementing creative solutions
- Challenge the status quo, have strong curiosity, are a champion for change and influence others to change
- Knowledge of consumer and/or banking compliance laws and regulations
- Technical skills and expertise to manage information systems and manage compliance tools and processes that enable banking compliance tracking and reporting (e.g., SQL, SAS Enterprise Guide, Business Objects, Tableau)
