Job Title: Program Manager

Reports to: General Manager Team

Compensation: $22/hour, 20 hours per week for two years.

Bloomingfoods Co-op Market recently received a grant from the Indiana Department of Health to fund a program that doubles the value of purchases made with SNAP. This means when someone purchases SNAP-eligible items with an electronic benefit transfer (EBT), they only pay half the cost. We created this program with the goal of increasing access to food, especially since local, organic, and nutritious food can be more expensive than other conventional alternatives.

The grant also funds a Program Manager (PM) to oversee this SNAP Double Dollars program. The PM will be a temporary, part-time Bloomingfoods employee working with both Bloomingfoods staff and a board committee dedicated to this program.

Responsibilities & Duties

(1) Program Maintenance: includes regular reporting, communications with stakeholders (grantors and program patrons), and procurement of sustaining funds to continue the project. The PM will gather data from Bloomingfoods POS reports on program use and compile regular reports.

(2) Outreach: includes the creation of program materials, planning distribution and communication strategy, and building relationships with community organizations. The PM will be assisted by the resources of the Fair Food Network, and the Bloomingfoods staff and marketing team. To supplement these efforts, the PM will engage in targeted outreach to community organizations, especially those that already work to promote food security.

(3) Education: the PM will identify, communicate, and coordinate food and nutrition education opportunities for Bloomingfoods customers with the help of our local Community Wellness Coordinator in the Purdue Extension Nutrition Education Program.

(4) Logistics: the PM will work with Bloomingfoods staff on point-of-sale (POS) integration, customer service, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise. The PM will be responsible for collaborating with staff on program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Qualifications

• Must have an interest in food security work. Previous experience with food security-related work or study is preferred but not required.
• Must have experience with community outreach. Community outreach experience in Monroe County preferred.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to take initiative and be self-directed in managing the program; ability to plan for, carry out and provide support for the program with minimal supervision. Previous leadership experience preferred.
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, able to meet deadlines, and able to respond in a timely manner to communication and requests from Bloomingfoods staff, Board, and patrons.
• Previous experience managing grants and/or grant reporting preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience using Excel to manage data and generate reports is preferred.
