Position Description

The President’s team seeks a Program Officer with appetite to learn about wide-ranging community development issues while working with the team that collaborates daily with the President to advance LISC’s mission. The role involves close work with the Senior Advisor to the President to support a range of projects of importance to LISC’s local offices, rural team and national program teams related to investments in affordable housing, economic development, capacity building and more. Successful candidates will be ready to put strong communication skills to work in drafting materials and messages, and to provide support to cross-team efforts that need consistent facilitation and project management to stay on track. A professional demeanor and problem-solving orientation are a must, as is a commitment to community development and passion for making LISC the best it can be for staff, partners and the communities we serve.

Responsibilities:

General / Project Support

  • Support the President’s day-to-day engagement with LISC colleagues and external parties by helping with preparation for meetings, information-gathering about people and programs, and other tasks to help advance team priorities
  • Work with the Senior Advisor to the President and national team leaders to contribute to special projects, such as LISC’s HBCU Internship Program, LISC’s participation in the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference and development of DEIJ trainings and workshops
  • Project manage planning and execution of a National Leadership Conference (tentative for 2024) or alternative events that afford an opportunity to showcase LISC’s investments, partnerships and innovations in the community development industry, working in partnership with an event coordinator and a conference planning team
  • Support annual planning across the program teams reporting up to the President, including working with the Senior Advisor to structure planning tools, group discussions and follow up to inform impact goal setting and budgeting priorities
  • Project manage LISC’s exploration of new sites/business models; in 2023-24, focus on assessments or business planning for Miami, Puerto Rico
  • Provide staffing for Project 10X – manage internal communications; liaise with Development, Communications, Lending and other departments on metrics and new initiatives; maintain the resource library; and staff the Steering Committee

Communications

  • Assist with external communications, including helping to draft remarks, presentation materials and briefings for conferences, webinars and events that involve the President
  • Monitor national news outlets and support social media engagement on behalf of the President (principally LinkedIn, Twitter)

Administration

  • Provide backup support with managing the President’s scheduling and emails when APO/Executive Assistant is out of the office
  • Assist with onboarding new team members and engagement/supervision of interns
  • Other additional and/or alternative duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or minimum of 3 years of experience serving in a similar role
  • Ability to collaborate with coworkers and key stakeholders in diverse positions across the company and community development industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
  • High standards of integrity, judgment, and discretion, and an orientation toward
  • Capacity to simultaneously work on multiple tasks and projects, set priorities for a challenging workload, meet deadlines, and act in a positive, solution-oriented manner.
  • Excellent technical skills including competency in full Microsoft Office suite, and ability to quickly learn new applications
  • A strong team player with great organization, initiative, attention to detail and timely follow-through as well as high standards for accuracy and efficiency

The ideal candidate is a flexible, self-starter, capable of working closely within a fast-paced and dynamic team. A passion for catalyzing opportunities in the communities where LISC works is essential. This position location is flexible; proximity to a LISC office preferable.

Compensation

LISC offers a competitive salary [$73-87K], commensurate with experience, and excellent fringe benefits.
