The Project Manager, Distributed Generation, will manage distributed generation programs that support EMC initiatives- i.e., Rooftop Solar. This position will have or develop significant knowledge about applicable state and local policies and laws, successful approaches to reach the market, necessary technical expertise, knowledge of EMC business necessary to help lead program implementation. The role will report directly to GPEMC's Vice President - Engineering and Operations and will be expected to manage the following tasks:

Develop and manage new products, tools, and services to support Green Power EMC's mission and Member interests and requirements. Engage with EMC's, vendors, suppliers, and commercial and industrial customers to define project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility. Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress. Track project costs to maintain budget requirements and provide budget and expense information to support financial, accounting, and Member billing activities. Manage all project contracts with vendors and suppliers. Remain up to date to provide management updates on national trends, news, events regarding renewable energy, impacts on utilities, competitive industry changes, and state/federal legislation and regulations that may affect Green Power EMC and its mission. Initiate and manage special projects on an as-needed basis using project management best practices and methodologies. This role will require managing outside resources and staff to complete project tasks, when necessary.

Job Duties:

  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress. Track project costs to maintain budget requirements and provide budget and expense information to support financial, accounting, and Member billing activities. Manage all project contracts with vendors and suppliers.
  • Engage EMCs to review and help evaluate the benefits of proposed programs. Provide training to EMC staff for the design, implementation, and tracking of program activities.
  • Remain up to date to provide management updates on national trends, news, events regarding renewable energy, impacts on utilities, competitive industry changes, and state/federal legislation and regulations that may affect Green Power EMC and its Mission.
  • Initiate and manage special projects on an as-needed basis using project management best practices and methodologies.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in management, engineering, environmental science, or technology related field is required.

Experience: Two (2) to Five (5) years of experience in project management, renewable energy development, energy/environmental policy and/or renewable energy sales. Experience with a utility/energy/solar company is preferred. Experience managing projects with a medium to high degree of complexity and scope. Experience organizing and leading business meetings. Knowledge or experience with renewable energy resources, especially solar energy generation, is a preferred.

Equivalent Experience: Candidates with a two-year technical degree plus eight (8) years of directly related experience.

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Valid driver's license that meets the insurance eligibility requirements under Oglethorpe Power's Driver Qualification Program.
