Navistar is seeking a
Project Manager - Vehicle Compliance Technical Lead to join our team.
This position is responsible for managing global product compliance activities to ensure all Navistar products meet or exceed legally mandated safety and environmental standards as well as company product compliance expectations for all vehicles in service.
Lead the investigative teams to ensure product failures are dealt with decisively and effectively, and when necessary, manage the remedy for noncompliant vehicles.
Interface with all government investigative and enforcement agencies (Ex. U.S – NHTSA, Canada – T.C.) concerning Navistar product issues.
This position will also manage product failure investigations from initial awareness to field remedy release while maintaining a positive relationship with all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Coordinate and lead the investigations of Navistar truck and engine product issues for potential field campaigns. Position will be responsible for managing multiple issues concurrently.
- Interface with NHTSA, Transport Canada, and all other government agencies responsible for ensuring vehicle compliance from a global perspective.
- Coordinate with colleagues on product investigations and proactively disseminate project information to all stakeholders.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of uniform, suitable “due care” program in the plants that will assure continuous compliance.
- Ensure proper engineering and quality processes are followed when developing remedy, corrective action, and prevention activities.
- Coordinate cross functional internal managers & external resources for administration of field campaigns.
- Plan for implementation of new Government requirements within the organization.
- Keep abreast and lead development of new compliance and environmental regulatory requirements, regulatory trends, enforcement activity and their applicability to current and future products.
- Manage field campaign prevention activities.
- Overall administration of approved field campaigns including the customer and dealer mailings for units delivered all over the world.
- Promote positive relationships with customers, suppliers and internal resources.
- Perform special departmental projects as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 5 years of technical project/program management experience
OR
- Master’s degree
- At least 3 years of technical project/program management experience
OR
- At least 7 years of technical project/program management experience

- Advanced Computer utilization (i.e. spreadsheets, databases, graphics)
- Thorough knowledge of product development process
- Knowledge of quality tools and their proper use
- Experience participating in design reviews
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highly motivated, organized and self-disciplined
- Experience /familiarity with vehicle manufacturing processes
