About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our London Commercial Branch. We are looking for an experienced Property & Casualty Underwriter. This is a hybrid opportunity, with a minimum of 2 days a week in the London office.
The role will support business targets in relation to the servicing of Broker and Client accounts and queries ensuring you support and underwrite within defined parameters in a consistent and profitable manner. In particular with renewal retention, control of lapses and credit control queries.
On a daily basis, you'll ensure customer satisfaction by building rapport and provide excellent service to external and internal customers and in the long term, ensure customer retention. Other duties will include supporting and working with Senior Underwriters on large cases, which in turn will allow you to get involved with writing your own cases.

As a part of our successful team you will be expected to:
- Build successful broker relationships
- Develop business relationships with key clients
- Achieve agreed financial performance targets
- Collaborate strongly with other departments to achieve the Company's goals in respect of service delivery
- Engage fully in the cross sell culture in Allianz
- Handle renewals and mid-term adjustments
- Support more junior team members
- Send out documents to Brokers ensuring that we adhere to compliance and regulation
The successful candidate will have a desire to work in the very heart of the Insurance industry in the City of London. The role will include attending meetings, meeting Brokers and assisting our Senior Underwriters and Underwriting teams.
This is a very varied role and an exciting opportunity and would suit someone who thrives on being challenged and enjoys every day being different and varied.
Skills & Experience
- Experience of Property & Casualty underwriting is essential
- Awareness of the Commerical Insurance Market
- Knowledge of both our own and competitor's insurance covers, policy wordings and proposition desirable
- Passionate about your own development
- Strong trading skills with ability to build and develop Broker relationships
- Proven ability to build, develop and maintain broker relationships
- A good team player, supportive to others with a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills
- ACII or working towards desirable
