*Job Summary: *
The Psychiatrist will provide direct patient care at a federal facility in a Native American/American Indian medical facility located in Fort Yuma, AZ. The new 76,265 square foot facility is designed to take care of the clinical, dental, and optical health care needs of Tribal members residing in southwest Arizona and southern California. The facility includes 22 primary care exam rooms, 11 dental chairs, and an eye care area. Behavioral health, physical therapy, and diabetes treatment are offered on site. The center also contains a pharmacy and diagnostic imaging and lab services.
The Cocopah and Quechan are the two distinct tribes that are served at Fort Yuma. The Quechan Reservation consists of 45,814 desert acres along the Colorado River in California's Imperial County, just outside Yuma, AZ. The Cocopah Reservation is comprised of 1,772 acres near Somerton, AZ, a small-town south-west of Yuma. The Cocopah and Quechan tribal members live a contemporary lifestyle, but many still practice traditional ways. The cultural experiences run deep here. Even the native language bears linguistic similarities to the ancient Aztecs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Psychiatrist must be sensitive to the unique culture factors of the people they treat, which may include use of an interpreter as necessary in communication of services being rendered. Unique cultural factors that may contribute to the patient’s treatment include: use of their language communications; village and tribal customs; use of traditional healers; isolation; housing conditions and lack of resources.
  • The Psychiatrist will provide direct review of medications, direct psychiatric clinical evaluations, diagnosis, treatment and treatment planning providing psychotherapeutic and other psychological services. Services provided may include but are not limited to the following: individual services, group therapy, relaxation therapy, behavior therapy, and child and adolescent therapies. These are all provided with a sensitive understanding of culturally relevant issues.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license throughout the term of this contract.
  • The Contractor shall read, understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers, and shall be respectful of the local, American Indian and Alaska Native culture

Education and Experience:

  • Psychiatrist must have four (4) years of accredited medical school leading to MD/DO doctorate level diploma.
  • Minimum three (3) years of residency training in Psychiatry.
  • Two (2) year experience in Psychiatry.
  • State License issued by any of the 50 states or District of Columbia as directed by state law. Each physician must have a permanent, full and unrestricted Licensed to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Psychiatrist needs to be board certified/ board eligible in their specialty and hold a current Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications.
  • All licenses and certification are due at the time of application.
  • Psychiatrist must be eligible for billing to Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license throughout the term of this contract.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • This position requires extended periods of being on your feet.
  • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others.
  • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunization as required by NAIHS immunization policy.

Pre-employment Requirements:
This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, background check, drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides.
Drug and Alcohol Testing:
To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing during or at the beginning of employment.
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):
Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.
Emergency Response:
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
