Outpatient psychotherapist – School-Based
Full time, salaried position
Applicant qualifications and skills: Mental health/behavioral health psychotherapy services to students ages 5-10 on site at their school. Experience diagnosing and treating a wide range of emotional, mental health, behavioral and family issues. Experience in child therapy modalities for the treatment of childhood trauma, family systems and child welfare concerns.
Applicant qualifications and skills:
Candidates with an NPI and existing insurance credentials preferred but will consider training license with relevant experience.
Experience and interest in providing mental and behavioral health services to youth ages 5-10.
Ability to collaborate and communicate well to schedule and provide comprehensive client care that includes school personnel and parents.
School service experience preferred.
- Demonstrated practice experience and proficiency in child and adolescent therapy
- Proficient in child therapy modalities
- Play therapy or other creative modalities
- Understaning of family systems theory and application
- Ability to engage parents and provide parent education
- Experience building emotional, behavioral regulation skills with children
- Ability to provide mental health education to school staff
- Strong client engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a treatment or school team
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and community professionals
- Creative, receptive and responsive
- Projects a professional demeanor and appearance
- Familiar with legal, ethical standards
- Knowledge of DSM diagnosing
- Extensive knowledge of community resources and referrals highly desirable
- Ability to establish positive, meaningful connections with school personnel
- Provide mental health education or consultation to school professionals when requested.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Provide mental health therapy, behavioral management support to a caseload of children and their families. Work in collaboration will school staff to design and implement appropriate interventions for students in need. Charting and recordkeeping Participate in required meetings such as case reviews, school meetings and staff meetings.
- Assessment, intake, case management, individual therapy, family therapy, behavioral management
- Classroom observation.
- Facilitation of skill building groups if requested.
- Client charting and other required paperwork per agency, state and insurance requirements.
- Attend peer consultation, staff meetings, supervision and other meetings.
- Provide emergency after-hours coverage on rotation.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and FRPA guidelines
- Uphold agency and state ethical and legal standards.
- Establish and maintain collateral contacts as needed.
- Fulfill continuing education requirements to maintain state licensure.
- Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with agency staff.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
