Overview:

This Public Health Outbreak Response Coordinator is a member of an interdisciplinary team of public health consultants assisting Florida in reaching its strategic public health goals. This position supports public health outbreak and response activities statewide, including improving statewide access to purchasing cards, increasing position descriptions with response activities, coordinating response efforts and other programmatic requests, assembling field-level response or strike team members, providing technical support to responding staff and resources, and aiding in budgetary reconciliation regarding response activities. The role requires a considerable exercise of independent judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, good computer skills, and the ability to perform against high standards of excellence.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Represent the section in regard to the outbreak and response activities.
  • Work with programs to increase staff with purchasing cards to aid in response efforts.
  • Identify local staff that could aid in response and update response categories accordingly.
  • Assist in drafting or modifying position descriptions to include response activities within position descriptions.
  • Coordinate response activities to support outbreak and response efforts.
  • Coordinate hiring and development of staff resources to have designated staff for outbreak and response activities.
  • Assist with travel arrangements for responding staff and allocation of budget to programs for remuneration of travel funds.
  • Carry out related administrative duties and those of the responding staff including, but not limited to, travel and purchasing.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and complete after-action documentation for stakeholders and responding staff/resources.
  • Provide routine stakeholder reports regarding performed outbreak response activities.
  • Supporting other data and response projects as needed.
  • Assist with data quality and integrity efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of work experience in public health or a related field.
  • 6 months of experience with infectious disease outbreak response activities.
  • 2 years of experience with the Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Completion of Incident Command Structure (ICS) trainings ICS-100 and ICS-200 with preference for additional ICS training.
