At Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB), we raise and train puppies to become guide dogs for the blind and visually impaired. We’re seeking a self-starter with excellent customer service and administrative skills to help us with our dogs who are changing careers, retiring, or relocating. As a Puppy Raising Program Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of communication, transportation, and coordination for these special dogs who are in transition and the people who care for them.

What you’ll do:

  • Handle communication, placement information, paperwork, and files for career change dogs and retired guide dogs
  • Coordinate the Veterinary Financial Assistance (VFA) Program for puppy raising dogs
  • Coordinate the transfer of puppies and the addition of co-raisers, including communication, paperwork, data entry, and supplies
  • Keep our database current and assist with the puppy naming process, applications, inventory requests, filing, and other needs
  • Provide administrative support including clerical duties, phone calls, internet and email inbox inquiries, and mail correspondence
  • Cross-train with other administrative staff to cover for vacation or other absences
  • Represent the department on committees and assist with special projects, events, and other duties

The qualifications you’ll need:

  • Administrative experience requiring collaboration, teamwork, and initiative
  • Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills
  • A sense of enthusiasm, focus, creativity, humor, and a positive outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on a deadline with strong organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Salesforce or other database application experience preferred
  • Ability to safely handle a variety of large breed dogs, weighing up to 90 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured at regular risk rates to transport dogs and/or people
  • Ability to work occasional weekend days for events, with some travel throughout the year

Pay Range
$26.00-$32.00/hour

Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
