Position Summary:

Negotiates and communicates with suppliers to secure materials and supplies that meet purchase order specifications, timely delivery and favorable sourcing costs. Manages purchase order systems and processes. Continually seeks improvement in materials and supplies in support of American Roller Company & Plasma Coatings Division operating and manufacturing requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Data extraction/reporting: Freight, PPV, chemical & material usage.

· Execution of purchase order exceptions utilizing ERP system.

· Maintain ERP database which includes vendor contracts, item setup, weekly & monthly purchase order clean up.

· Facilitate purchase order acknowledgments and save required documentation.

· Initiate supplier setup documents in accordance with American Roller procedures.

· Manage sourcing selection based on supplier evaluations, interviews, supplier facility surveys.

· Verification of purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to requirements; clarifying unclear items; recommending cost effective alternatives from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requesting department

· Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; Monitoring and expediting orders; Resolve errors in shipment with suppliers.

· Facilitate and support the return and replacement of discrepant material; Manages the obtaining of credits; Implements corrective action per Company objectives and guidelines

· Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities as needed

· Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related activities as needed

· Implement strategies which support company and corporate metrics, such as low cost sourcing, total cost goals, supplier reduction and on-time delivery

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Business degree or equivalent desirable
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in performing in purchasing/supply chain functions with direct responsibilities for procuring machine components preferred
  • Negotiation skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Blue print reading skills, including interpretation of ANSI (American National Standards Institute), AWS (American Welding Society) and GD& T symbols
  • Familiarity with contemporary manufacturing systems such as MRP, Kan Ban, Just In Time (JIT)
  • Strong interpersonal, time management and communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of business practices and contracts
  • High energy level with “can do” attitude and focus on improvement
  • Detail Oriented
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and processes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
