Position Summary:
Reporting to the Chancellor of Purdue Global (PG), the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management (VP of SEM) will oversee the formation and ongoing management of a unit responsible for strategic enrollment management at PG. This position is responsible for the enrollment of working-adult students into a fully-online institution, with emphasis on providing an extraordinary experience for those students; routinely achieving budget goals; and creating a positive work environment centered on collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement. The VP of SEM will demonstrate a commitment to PG’s land grant mission of access, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and can point to successes in building an increasingly diverse student body.
The VP of SEM will oversee all student admission and enrollment services at PG and will exert control and oversight of the selection and admission of students to PG and the application materials, admissions determinations, training, metrics, policies, and processes associated with this.
The VP of SEM will have managerial responsibility for instituting and managing an enrollment management team. This position and team will work closely with the Purdue University marketing team to constantly refine and improve Marketing’s demand generation brand model to achieve PG’s enrollment and downstream goals, and with the post-enrollment team, to ensure that new students enjoy a smooth transition into classes and, ultimately, to completion. In addition, the VP of SEM will coordinate with the Office of Industry Partnerships at Purdue University to support the enrollment of students from military and corporate partners.
The VP of SEM will also be expected to remain at the forefront of the discipline by being engaged with colleagues and peers worldwide to bring best practice and innovation to PG. The VP SEM will develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the PG senior team, other leaders, faculty, staff and outside partners to ensure the integration of operational and strategic enrollment management initiatives across PG.
Required Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree is required.
- At least 8 to 10 years of related experience in enrollment management or similar, with at least 5 to 7 years in data analysis/reporting and 3 to 5 years in a leadership role.
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education or experience requirements.
- Significant experience working with adult learners in a wholly online environment, and a strong record of success working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
- Extensive knowledge of strategic enrollment management theory and practice with demonstrated success in increasing enrollment and retaining students through graduation.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work collaboratively with university stakeholders, including but not limited to academic leadership, faculty, students, and key members of the university community.
- Demonstrated success in leveraging digital marketing and optimizing conversion in a demand-generation marketing environment.
- Demonstrated skills in program development and planning, re-engineering processes and procedures, formulating and/or revising policy, and developing and implementing strategies at an institution of higher learning.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret needs, and develop integrated and creative solutions.
- Demonstrated success in building, developing and maintaining an effective enrollment management team.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to stakeholders at multiple levels within and outside the university.
- Demonstrated management of operational resources within budget.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment, across diverse teams, departments, and Schools.
