PW is seeking a Quality Associate in support of the Quality organization at the Southern Logistic Center (formally the facility in the Georgia Distribution Center). Working shift is Tuesday through Saturday.
The Quality Associate will help with parts inspection, training and coaching of inspectors, and providing guidance to clear emerging issues with material being inspected. They will also update the required IT systems to enable the parts to be final packed and shipped. This person must be proficient in Part inspection including both dimensional and geometric. Must have a good understanding of how to use inspection equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understands and follows Pratt & Whitney’s policies and procedures.
- Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required.
- Support, direct, and train inspection personnel.
- Perform SAP required job audits for Op Cert surveillance.
- May require occasional weekend work to support production schedule.
- Review, investigate and make dispositions of parts or materials placed on Quality Review due to deviations from engineering specifications.
- Review and interpret applicable engineering detail and assembly drawings, engine manuals, clearance charts, engineering changes, and specifications to determine the severity of the material deviations.
- Make dispositions of parts and materials based on evaluation of technical requirements and end use.
- Evaluate Quality Notifications and related documentation for accuracy and completeness as received from both internal and external sources.
- Provide the necessary controls for storage and control of nonconforming material.
- Adhere to all EH & S guidelines, including wearing of required personal protective equipment.
- Perform ODA Unit Member duties as outlined in the PW ODA Manual to support Operations and Spares shipments as necessary.
- Investigate potential and confirmed escapes utilizing the root cause and corrective action process.
- May be required to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this position in support of department objectives and to develop one’s skills.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- US Citizen due to program requirements
- A&P License or applicable experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- This person must be proficient in Part inspection including both dimensional and geometric. Must have a good understanding of how to use inspection equipment.
- Must have prior Quality inspection experience, 3 + years desired.
- CORE Associate level or Lean manufacturing or 6 Sigma green belt experience preferred.
- Possess a strong understanding of effective Quality systems and methodologies and their impact on both the internal and external business environments.
- FAA ODA Certification is required for this position.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels throughout the organization.
- Computer skills- Proficient in Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, Project.
- Experience with SAP and other IT Quality systems
