GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to provide reliable and highly specialized service for all of the electronic needs associated with government radio systems used by the divisions within the Department of Public Safety.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree in a field related to the job
- Four (4) years of related experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
- Partial years of credit may be granted for every 15 credit hours of education in an unrelated field
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Investigates, troubleshoots, repairs, programs and maintains emergency communications systems and associated electronic equipment
- Coordinates work with outside vendors for repairs
- Performs administrative duties to include maintaining records of repairs, reporting, attending meetings, and/or assisting in the budget preparation
- Ensures compliance with FCC, NFPA and DOT through installation, maintenance and testing of equipment
- Manages spare parts inventory
- Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16
- Routinely available for calls on weekends, holidays and during emergency situations. Required to carry a pager and be available for recall in the event of emergency
- Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
- Subject to a polygraph examination
- May be required to receive training on specific radio manufacturers
