Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas is a 138-bed full-service acute care facility located in the beautiful coastal north county of San Diego. Providing 24-hour emergency services, OB-GYN, maternal health and infant health services, and a regionally recognized brain injury program, we proudly offer patient-focused care to the communities we serve.
We are a 30-bed medical-surgical with telemetry patients also known as 1 North. Our primary focus is medical patients with a wide variety of patients ranging from cellulitis or sepsis to substance withdrawal. Supported by a great leadership group, the unit is at the forefront of innovation. Newer nurses are provided a structured environment to excel and going above and beyond for patients is the norm on the unit.
Feel the pride working for Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas Medical Acute 1 North where you will provide direct patient care to medical patients within the scope of your practice. Patient care includes assessment, planning, and implementing a plan of care and evaluating patients' progress towards expected outcomes. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical Acute, you will take primary responsibility for the patients' care as delivered by the Care Team under your supervision. Work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
As a RN, you will provide exceptional nursing care under the scope of the following duties:
- Providing a variety of patient populations including pre/post-surgery, and other high acuity patients.
- Conferring with physicians to discuss diagnoses and devise well-coordinated treatment approaches for 5 patients simultaneously.
- Administering PO, IV, IM, SQ, enteral, topical, and inhalation medications. Insert and manage intravenous and enteral lines.
- Providing wound care, dressing changes, and ostomy care.
- Educating patients, families and caregivers on diagnosis and prognosis, treatment options, disease process and management and lifestyle management.
This is a Full-Time (72 hours every two weeks) benefited position, working 12-hour NIGHT shifts on varied days. Located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.
This position is eligible for New Hire and Relocation Incentives up to $7K

- Internal candidates
- Rehires that left Scripps less than 3 years ago
In order to remain eligible for your retention incentive the following criteria must be met:
- Must remain in original hired FTE Status and Shift (if specified in offer letter)
- Must remain in original department/specialty
- Must remain in original Job Title
- Transfers to other locations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may result in forfeiting remaining incentive bonus unless specifically noted in your offer letter.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certifications:
- Current CA RN License
- Current American Heart Association BLS
- Registered nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing
- One year RN experience
- Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- One year acute care RN experience
