Job Description:
Reliability Engineers – Battery Systems
Job duties:
  • Utilize engineering skills to contribute to the development and qualification of new products in the Batteries, Chargers, and Portable Power Business Units.
  • Serve as a member of the New Product Development Team.
  • Throughout a product's development cycle, this position requires cross-functional communication skills and analytical expertise to help launch new and exciting solutions that meet user needs.
  • Review new product designs and engineering changes with respect to product reliability, user requirements, and warranty information.
  • Identify "critical to quality" (CtQ) user need requirements on mechanical, electrical, and battery design features.
  • Track multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to schedule and the Milwaukee Tool process.
  • Participate and collaborate on project teams involving Marketing and Engineering leading in all aspects of reliability and testing.
  • Develop test plans and procedures based on new or established products, to ensure product meets customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with test laboratories to ensure full test completion and best practices are utilized.
  • Report and present product information utilizing statistical techniques such as Weibull analysis, reliability distributions and matrices, and reliability models.
  • Draw concise, logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis.
  • Ensure timely failure reporting, root cause analysis and effective corrective/preventative actions (FRACA).
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Reliability, Electrical, or related engineering field and demonstrable knowledge of:
  • Lithium-ion battery technology, failure mechanics, aging/degradation mechanisms or performance characteristics.
  • Electromechanical battery system design, PCBA design, and DC/AC power conversion.
  • Electric drives for motor applications.
  • Working with various test equipment, including power supplies, electronic loads, thermal chambers, and vibration tables.
Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
Partial weekly work from home is allowed on a regular basis.
