Job Responsibilities:

• Perform various microbiological techniques including culturing, streaking and membrane filtration
• DNA and RNA extraction from various samples types (food, water, sponges, etc.) for downstream PCR analysis
• Sample preparation for microbiological analysis and analyte extraction for chemical/biochemical analysis
• Set-up and run biochemical assays to detect contaminant compounds and determine levels of various target molecules
• Identify various micro-organisms through the use of selective media, chromogenic indicators, and morphology
• Opportunity to work in several independent research groups
• Collection and analysis of experiment data
• Literature research and troubleshooting
• Media/Reagent Preparation and QC
• Housekeeping chores such as glassware washing and autoclaving

Qualifications:

• BS/BA in biological sciences or related disciplines
• 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience including coursework
• Industry lab experience is a plus
• Must have working knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory skills
• Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to work well both within a team as well as independently with minimal supervision

About the Position:

This is a full time position with competitive salary and health, vision, dental and life insurance benefits that are fully covered by Genista with no out-of-pocket expenses. Additional perks include gym membership, free on-site lunch, paid vacation, and a casual working environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
