Title: Resident Assistant

Schedule: Two shifts available (Full Time):

  • Wednesday – Sunday 12:30pm – 9pm
  • Monday & Tuesday 12:30pm – 9pm; Friday – Sunday 7am – 3:30pm

Compensation: $16.00 per hour

About Mary’s Mercy Center:

Mary’s Mercy Center (MMC) operates a transitional housing program for mothers with young children called Mary’s Haven. Mary’s Haven provides a structured environment that promotes recovery and the development of interpersonal, educational, professional skills, in addition to parenting and programming for healthy child development. MMC’s housing programs are designed to promote sobriety with an emphasis on preparing residents for permanent, independent living. Staff works with our residents to build strength, aspiration, and willpower to make lasting changes.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Resident Assistants are responsible for maintaining a safe, comfortable, and secure environment for residents, their children, staff, and visitors at Mary’s Haven. Resident Assistants will work directly with residents, and their children, to establish access to health, mental health, and social services based on the unique needs of each resident. The Resident Assistant will perform one-on-one case management, facilitate didactic groups, transport clients to and from appointments (in a company vehicle), maintain individual service plans, and make progress notes. Resident Assistants will communicate clearly, empathetically, and effectively when speaking to residents, family members, visitors, staff, and partnering agencies. He or she will work cooperatively with all departments and multidisciplinary teams. The Resident Assistant will relay all pertinent information concerning a resident’s condition to his/her supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Assistant Director
  • Provide case management for residents and children in placement
  • Assist with applications for social services.
  • Maintaining accurate social service progress notes
  • Obtaining information from community social health and welfare agencies in order to meet the resident’s needs.
  • Lead group discussions and facilitate therapeutic programming.
  • Protecting each resident’s file and data with confidentially per HIPAA standards
  • Abiding with all facility policies and procedures including not disclosing user ID codes and passwords
  • Provide childcare and assist with assessments and child enrichment activities.
  • Ensure that all residents are maintaining their rooms and common areas, cleaning up after themselves.
  • Ensure that residents are following the house rules, including, but not limited to, lights out and curfew.
  • Ensure a sober living environment and adheres to all agency policies pertaining to substances and contraband.
  • Observe and report any unusual behaviors or potential conflict between residents and make attempts to find appropriate resolution.
  • Maintain inventory of household supplies (i.e., cleaning supplies, house linens, utensils, etc.)
  • Complete intake process for all new residents and ensure resident compliance with sober living home rules.
  • Conducts program orientation, search belongings, collects unauthorized items to be placed in a secured area, and perimeter checks to ensure the safety of all residents
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic.
  • Must demonstrate ability to de-escalate situations using verbal techniques.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess a reading and writing level that provides for clear expression and/or understanding of assignments related to the job description.
  • Ability to represent the company well in interactions, both inside and outside of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and driving record that meets the standards of the company’s auto insurance provider.
  • Must be able to comply with all background check protocols outlined in AB 506.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with families, particularly those who have experienced various forms of trauma.
  • Experience working with substance abuse recovery programs.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour
