We are seeking a reliable Sales Associate with great retail and service skills. Working at your locally owned Wild Birds Unlimited store is an opportunity to support and educate our friendly customers about birds and nature here in Alachua County.

Our Sales Associates support the store’s mission – “We Bring People and Nature Together…And We Do It With Excellence!” To that end, we provide training with regard to backyard bird feeding, bird watching and product knowledge.

We are seeking part-time applicants that meet the needs of the business, a flexible schedule and the ability to work weekends

Job Description: Sales Associate

Overview: Provide a friendly, high energy customer experience to our retail store customers helping them share the joy of the backyard bird feeding hobby. The key responsibilities of the position are offering expertise and advice to customers related to store merchandise and the backyard birding hobby and efficiently conducting transactions, and to do this with friendliness and enthusiasm.

Selling / Customer Experience

• Complete each Online Wild Birds Learning (OWL) module as part of the High Energy Training in order to deliver the Wild Birds Unlimited (WBU) high energy customer experience as the trusted local expert
• Use successful selling skills to satisfy the customer and complete the sale
• Read, understand and follow the Employee Handbook, including the WBU Ten Touch Points training
• Follow the best practices of the Person in Charge of the Customer experience
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance by wearing a logo name badge and logo apparel while working on the sales floor
• Demonstrate a positive, enthusiastic and professional demeanor
• Attend store meetings as required
• Complete any other duties as assigned

Merchandising

• Successfully complete the Certified Birdfeeding Specialist Program within the first 30 days
• Understand and communicate the store’s features, advantages and benefits of store merchandise and target products to the customer
• Complete the changing of displays and the restocking of merchandise as directed by leadership
• Follow all store policies and procedures regarding the ringing of transactions, any administrative duties and scheduling
• Complete accurate records
• Adhere to all store policies and procedures regarding personal and store safety and security

Other

• Maintain good housekeeping standards to help present a clean and well-presented store
• Ability to climb a ladder, lift up to 50 lbs. and carry seed for our customers – a foundation of our service
• Help keep store and backroom clean & organized
• Complete any other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $14.00 per hour
