Job Summary
This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Full time telework eligible. In person home office located at Stassen in St. Paul. Teleworking employees are required to live in Minnesota or a bordering state in a county along the Minnesota state line.
Come be a part of the Collection Division at the Minnesota Department of Revenue, working together to fund Minnesota’s future. Our mission in the Collection Division is to provide quality service to all customers, collect debt, promote compliance, and serve customers with efficiency, fairness, respect, and integrity.
The Revenue Collection Officer 1 position is responsible for providing customer service to the taxpayers of Minnesota to ensure voluntary compliance with Minnesota tax law. This position applies knowledge of tax laws and collection policies to secure the payment of delinquent taxes by telephone and mail following specific precedents and diversified procedures.
This position will spend the majority of their day handling incoming or making outgoing phone calls to customers, processing customer correspondence, and reviewing cases in worklists. The best candidates for this position will have excellent customer service and phone skills.

Minimum Qualifications
- One (1) year of customer service experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Edge.
- Experience in problem solving.
- Experience in collaborating with teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing customer service over the phone.
- Experience in using multiple computer applications to complete job duties.
- Experience in understanding and applying laws, policies, procedures, or regulations.
- Experience with explaining policies, regulations, and procedures to customers.
- Experience in working with customers of diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
Additional Requirements

All individual income tax filing and payment obligations must be current prior to interviewing for this position.
