Position Summary:

Maintain the hotel rooms and building to ensure safe and clean experience for hotel guests, associates, and vendors.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Works in a safe/efficient manner to assure quality

2. Reports any problem areas, which affect the safety, security, and operating condition of the hotel.

3. Change bed linen daily.

4. Vacuum carpeting.

5. Dust all furniture (picture frames, bed frames, lamps, TVs, dressers).

6. Remove fingerprints and smudges (ex. mirrors, shiny surfaces, windows, etc.).

7. Thoroughly clean the bathroom area - wash shower stall, sink, floor, toilet, etc.

8. Make sure that the standard room set-up is complied with.

9. Report immediately all damage found in a room.

10. Assist in maintaining all front of house and back of house housekeeping areas including laundry room and linen closets.

11. Report immediately all missing items in room. Report immediately personal guest items found in vacant rooms.

12. Notify Executive Housekeeper of all rollaways or cribs in rooms for pick-up and storage.

13. Take responsibility for master floor keys and make sure it is turned in daily.

14. Turn in immediately all "lost and found" items to Executive Housekeeper.

15. Report immediately to the Executive Housekeeper:

a. No luggage

b. No service needed.

c. Sleep outs

d. Extra guests.

e. Anything unusual.

16. Shut off all lights, TVs and air conditioners when leaving room.

17. Assist housekeeper in any additional cleaning chores she may assign.

Positions Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with workplace statutory requirements, including health and safety, fire prevention, hygiene, and handling of potentially harmful substances
  • Ability to communicate effectively with hotel guests, i.e., to announce arrival at door and to clearly understand requests from guests
  • Strong ability to use cleaning supplies, vacuum, safety equipment, and other equipment and materials used in carrying out housekeeping functions
  • Ability to work effectively in a place of varying levels of noise
  • Ability to solve problem relating to guests, with strong customer service skills
  • Strong self-starting personality and ability to display professional attitude and appearance always

Ability to work in a team setting, providing support to co-workers whenever called upon to offer assistance

Minimum Knowledge:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Must speak, read, and write proficient English

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent

Physical Effort: While performing the physical demands of this position, associates are expected to observe and adhere to safety and security procedures, promoting a safe work environment.

The physical activity normally entails the following attributes.

  • Must be able to walk, sit, stoop, stand, or bend for duration of shift [at least (8) hours].
  • Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help coworkers with their job duties and b a team player.
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and operation of various cleaning equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 lb.
  • Ability to push and/or pull equipment weighing up to 75 lb.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.

Work Schedule: Varies, typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including weekends

Occupational Risks: there are inherent risks associated with the restaurant and resort industry and may be required to take a safety training seminar.

Ergonomics Risks: The position has ergonomic risks that must understood i.e., lifting, carrying, kneeling, crouching, reaching, etc.

Safety: Responsible for adhering to all safety policies and procedures of the property.

Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
