Successful Safety Director will provide direction, development, leadership, and implementation of safety and risk management programs across the organization with a goal of continuously improving the safe production environment that we expect at Jensen Builders, LTD. Work closely with all department managers to institute this process and document procedures necessary to improve overall safety performance on a continuous basis. The Safety Director is a team player who takes responsibility and pride in the quality of their work. Has knowledge of a variety of construction equipment, tools, and processes; you must work in a manner that supports and helps to create a safe and healthy job site, support the Jensen Builders Core Values of dependability, integrity, and diversity.

Duties

  • Perform daily site safety inspections, safety assessments, safety audits.
  • Conduct site safety orientations with on-site workers.
  • Compile daily, weekly, monthly reports as per company policy & procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of site workers and the general public .
  • Investigate all accidents & complete all required paperwork as per OSHA, State.
  • Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any hazardous objects, processes, or equipment to ensure optimal site safety conditions.
  • Serve as the liaison between our client and OSHA, Insurance Carriers, and/or any other regulatory agencies.
  • Develop & Execute safety kick-off presentations.
  • Support all safety efforts on the project and promote company "Incident & Injury Free" culture & initiatives.
  • Ensure all construction activities are preplanned in regard to safety through pre-task plan reviews as well as preconstruction meetings.
  • Ensure all workers adhere to the approved site safety plan onsite.
  • Maintain all safety-related documentation.
  • Work cohesively with clients & their construction management team on site.
  • Coach all workers in effective hazard identification & correction of issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Site Safety Managers/Coordinator License
  • 30-Hour OSHA
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • 3 Years of construction safety management or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Practical knowledge of OSHA-CFR 1926 Construction Safety & Health
  • Working knowledge of OSHA & other regulatory agency laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Accident investigation & identification of known potential exposures capabilities/experience.
  • Knowledgeable of various construction trades/skills.
  • Proficient computer skills & familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and basic Windows applications..
  • Management, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Behavioral and Physical Function Requirements

The Construction Worker will work in conditions of repetitive movement, bending and twisting, climbing, using hands to lift, push, pull, carry, handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The Construction Worker lifts heavy objects (50+ pounds), walks and stands for long periods of time, and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Must be able to read and follow instructions. Must be able to work harmoniously with others.
