While receiving leadership support from the Director of Real Estate and Property Management, the Safety Manager will advance our mission by reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments to create and implement safety programs designed to protect our team members. The Safety Manager will provide expertise and training to the organization by ensuring understanding and compliance to laws and regulations governing workplace safety and will ensure all activities are performed in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision, values and brand of Goodwill NCW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspects and evaluates work environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Conducts workplace inspections and audits to identify work hazards and exposure.
  • Designs and implements measures to protect team members from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
  • Develops and conducts safety training and education programs to demonstrate the use of safety equipment and safety procedures.
  • Develops, maintains, implements, and provides training on emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Investigates accidents and incidents to identify root causes and provides preventive measures to reduce or eliminate future occurrences.
  • Develops action plans with leaders to ensure that locations are executing safety initiatives and programs.
  • Develops and directs safety programs for implementation and sustainment. Ensures sound safety and work practices are followed and that all team members work to specified safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with various regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, WI-DOT, etc.).
  • Collaborates with insurance organizations and third party vendors on external reviews and audits.
  • Identifies key performance indicators for safety to track and trend, identify possible weaknesses and make recommendations for improvements.

Education, Skills & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, or related field is required, but applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement.
  • At least 5 years of experience in safety, compliance, risk mitigation and knowledge of applicable OSHA and EPA federal, state, local, and corporate regulations/requirements.
  • At least an intermediate level of competency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in the development of policies and procedures and assessing and coaching staff in a retail environment is preferred.
