Job description
FUNCTION: The primary responsibility of the scale person is to weigh trucks on the scales, enter the correct information in the computer, print a ticket for the driver, and keep a copy for billing.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Know the products and product codes of all materials.
- Weigh trucks at scales and print a ticket for each truck weighed, ensure all tickets are signed.
- Complete cash on delivery (COD) transactions at the scales, pending check, and credit card approvals.
- Balance COD transactions and turn into dispatch.
- Keep record of checks taken and fax sheets as directed.
- Inform supervisor of large volume jobs.
- Open and close scale houses.
- Maintain insurable driving record.
- Keep scale house organized and clean and ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all times.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Public relations and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of construction industry
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to resolve customer complaints regarding drivers and materials.
- Basic math skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Keyboard and 10 key skills helpful
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
