Why Seres Therapeutics

Seres Therapeutics is a commercial-stage company developing novel microbiome therapeutics for serious diseases. Our lead program, VOWST™, obtained U.S. FDA approval in April 2023 as the first orally administered microbiota-based therapeutic to prevent recurrence of C. difficile infection (CDI) in adults following antibacterial treatment for recurrent CDI and is being commercialized in collaboration with Nestlé Health Science. We are evaluating SER-155 in a Phase 1b study in patients receiving allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation to reduce incidences of gastrointestinal infections, bloodstream infections, and graft-versus-host disease as well as additional preclinical stage programs targeting Infection Protection in medically compromised patients. We are also conducting research to inform further development of microbiome therapeutics for ulcerative colitis.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Scientist I with strong lab-based immunology experience to join the Host Biology team to advance their career in translational research. This person will be responsible for a wide range of experiments and assay development with a primary focus on host immunological responses for Seres' infection protection pipeline and will collaborate with the in-house Pharmacology team as well as external CROs to support analyses from in vivo studies.

What You'll Do

• This is a "Lead from the Bench" Scientist I position requiring designing and analyzing in vivo experiments to elucidate the therapeutic mechanisms that microbes employ to modulate host immunity and inflammation.
• Execute laboratory experiments and develop new immunological assays and readouts to understand host-immune interactions with primary in vivo murine tissue samples.
• Should be proficient in sterile techniques, comfortable working under BSL2 conditions, handling mice and dissection.
• Critically analyze data to advance our understanding of the microbiome's mechanism of action and identify new opportunities for microbiome interventi
• Data analysis of complex data sets and/or assignments & present results at project team meetings.
• Work efficiently in a cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders to support early preclinical research, IND-enabling studies, and/or translational research to contribute to decision-making through scientific expertise.
• Excellent communication skills, should be capable of conveying technical information in a clear and thorough manner.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with commonly used data analysis programs such as Excel, FlowJo, and GraphPad Prism is strongly preferred.

What You'll Bring

• Ph.D. in immunology/biology or master's degree with equivalent number of years of industry experience (4+) with hands-on lab research experience in inflammatory diseases/oncology/metabolic diseases or related fields
• Expertise in immunological assays such as multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD based assays, and transcriptomics is required
• Prior experience designing and working with in vivo models is preferred
• Enthusiastic, proactive and flexible to work independently but in a cross-functional team-oriented environment
• 100% onsite 5 days a week into the Cambridge Alewife office
