Job Purpose
The Senior Analyst role will support the Energy Efficiency & Electric Demand Response rate case strategy in coordination with the Company’s strategy for our portfolio of performance incentives (known as “earning adjustment mechanism” or “EAM”) for New York. The role will coordinate with key internal and external stakeholders to manage the rate case proposals from concept to business case proposal, and implementation including the development of innovative earning adjustment mechanisms. This role will directly support and integrate the aggressive clean energy targets of our state and the success of developing innovative products that also provide gas and electric system benefits, earning opportunities, and climate goals.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the development and implementation of regulatory policy and strategy regarding gas and electric efficiency programs in consultation with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, and Corporate Affairs, and ensures such strategies are reflected in National Grid’s rate case filings.
- Explore needs with cross-functional departments to determine strategies for NY rate proceedings and prepare relevant business cases to build both internal and external support.
- Present CEM NY strategies within NY rate proceedings to executive leadership teams and incorporate feedback into business case proposal.
- Oversee the future opportunities for energy efficiency, demand response, electric heat, and economic equity proposals in the various NY rate case proceedings to drive clean energy opportunities for customers as well as contribute to growth opportunities for the utility.
- Act as point of contact for all energy efficiency, demand response, and electric heat proposals for purposes of drafting testimony, approving IR responses, and negotiating settlement positions.
- Communicate with internal business partners and stakeholders to develop process for delivery of approved plans, support compliance and EAM/KPI reporting, evaluation, and policy objectives.
- Support the negotiation of new or modified programs, overall funding levels, performance incentives, reporting requirements and metrics with regulatory agencies, non-utility Parties, regional collaboratives, efficiency program providers, local government, customer groups, environmental organizations, and others to ensure best value for National Grid.
- Create and track implementation plans for rate case programs and action items, and delegate ownership to the business.
- Drive performance for a portfolio of performance incentives known as “earnings adjustment mechanisms (EAMs)” in National Grid’s NY businesses including coordination of quarterly and annual regulatory filings
- Oversee a working group responsible for developing, proposing, and securing new, larger portfolios of EAMs in the future
- Assist in laddering up geographic portfolios and product vertical portfolios from Product Management Hubs to summary leadership meetings, including monthly Growth Review Meeting chaired by Chief Customer Officer and SVP, Strategy and Regulatory
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of related experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- Knowledge of the regulatory process. Preferred experience contributing to regulatory filings.
- Knowledge of the utility rate case process preferred, including testimony drafting, discovery request coordination, and position negotiation.
- Knowledge of the electric and gas industry, including energy efficiency and demand response program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of relevant industry practices, New York state clean energy policy, and related federal, state, and local related legislation.
- Proficient in relevant software e.g., Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, including ability to handle confidential communications.

- Broad understanding of National Grid’s energy efficiency, demand response, electric heat, and other clean energy programs.
- Knowledge of the Company’s earnings opportunities and performance metrics required.
- Ability to manage cross-functional relationships and communicate with respective departments about their specific business needs.
- Ability to think across portfolios and in the context of multiple regulatory proceedings to identify opportunities that support National Grid’s vision and strategies within NY.
- Ability to balance multiple high-priority deliverables and delegate action items to support roles.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
