Job Title: IT Sr Business Analyst

General Description:

This is a pivotal role in ensuring IT’s understanding of strategy, processes, services, and roadmaps etc. in the context for the technology solution requirements of different departments at Chickasaw Nation. Responsible for working with all levels of the organization to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders, be they customers or end users. This role will be key to understanding and documenting capabilities needed to deliver desired business outcomes.

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

• Serve as a liaison with stakeholders / internal customers of IT, for understanding and translating the business context, immediate needs, as well as their longer-term vision for the initiatives
• Develop a good understanding of both, the business objectives/ outcomes and the detailed requirements of the stakeholder departments
• Utilize industry standard tools and methodologies to elicit business and user requirements. These include interviews, workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, user stories, process modeling, analysis of existing systems and documentation, and other methods.
• Develop and utilize standard templates for requirements gathering and communication
• Understand and document business process(es) of current state and desired system state that will improve business process efficiency
• Facilitate and participate in quality peer and stakeholder reviews of requirement artifacts to ensure requirements are complete, consistent, comprehensible, and are signed-off/approved
• Maintain and reconcile forward and backward traceability of requirements.
• Provide thought Leadership in working with stakeholders to help identify the business problems to solve for their business objectives
• Develop and describe a sufficiently deep and comprehensive understanding of both, the business objectives/ outcomes and the detailed requirements of the stakeholder departments
• Proactively work with stakeholder department teams to understand and document business process(es) and highlight gaps between current and desired system state that will improve business process efficiency
• Translate conceptual business and user requirements into functional requirements for the solution, in a clear manner that is comprehensible to the whole project team
• Translate conceptual business and user requirements also into technical requirements for the solution, in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers, engineers and all IT team members in the project
• Assist with determination of a suitable solution and/or modification of an existing solution, to best serve the short-term and long-term needs of the stakeholders/internal customers
• Assist Architects and other involved teams in evaluation & selection of a new solution, and/or modification of an existing solution, to best serve the short-term and long-term needs of the stakeholders/internal customers
• Develop an understanding of cost and financial implications overall of the business problem and solution options. Engage with financial analyst /financial knowledge resources for it as needed
• Actively engage in solution design reviews and full solution reviews to ensure the solution addresses business objectives and requirements of the internal customers/stakeholders
• Where applicable, assist the QA teams with preparing and executing test plans - Unit Testing/System testing.
• Assist in developing user training documentation.
• Where applicable, assist the responsible IT teams in developing prototypes of the solution, including key interfaces and attributes
• Co-own and drive the business process level UAT with stakeholders/internal customers and securing sign-offs

Education:

Bachelors Preferred - Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business, Analytics and/or equivalent knowledge or experience

Education Note:

Training And Experience:

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - BA experience, with 2+ years in strategic business objectives and requirements with stakeholders

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - business process and system re-engineering for technology solutions

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - writing Business Requirement and Functional/Technical Specification Documents for technology solutions

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - working with other technical teams in creating conceptual prototypes and mock-ups

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - subject matter knowledge of one or more verticals/functional areas

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Required - Must be able to pass background check and receive a gaming license from the Chickasaw Nation office of the Gaming Commission as required to work in gaming operations.

Required - Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result.

Required - Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Preferred - Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

Work Environment:

Work is normally performed in an office environment, however can be performed as needed from a home or remote location. Occasionally may need to visit facilities and other locations where smoking occurs. Light travel is required.
