We are seeking a Clinical Services Nurse II
WE INVITE YOU TO APPLY IF:
- You have prior experience with Radiation Oncology patients with a CNS diagnosis
- You meet the qualifications required to successfully fill this position.
JOB DUTIES
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team including: CNS radiation therapy providers, medical oncology nurse coordinators, nurse triage, schedulers, and other support services
- Evaluate patient referrals for Stereotactic radiosurgery treatment from multiple sources, prioritize and facilitate scheduling radiation consultations and treatment planning procedures.
- Provide patient/family education regarding upcoming radiation procedures with special emphasis on identifying potential barriers
- Utilize resources to minimize identified potential barriers to receiving recommended treatment
- Collaborate with the treatment team in providing SRS discharge instructions and medications
- Route return appointment requests in clinic to front desk as directed by MD/APP
- Coordinate labs/scans with other providers
- Collaborate with administrative assistants to obtain all information needed for new patient consultations (such as: outside lab/scan results and pathology for review)
- Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled appropriately as requested
- Assist with prior authorizations, as needed
- Assist with insurance/family medical leave paperwork
- Symptom management teaching
- Triage of patient’s concerns (EHR messages/phone calls) and addressing with appropriate MD/APP
- Assist with medication refills requests
- Calling patients with negative or normal test results as directed by the MD/APP
- Maintain an SRS database
- Other tasks as assigned or delegated tasks by the MD/APP within the nursing scope
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Educational: BSN
- 1 Year of Oncology experience
- Licensure/Certification: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English.
- Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record
- Oncology Nurse certification (OCN) within one year of hire strongly encouraged
- Registrations, Certifications, and/or Licenses:
- Current unencumbered NC RN license.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
