Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) provides risk consulting services that help companies build resilience in a dynamic risk landscape. One of our risk mitigation offerings is Zurich’s Climate Change Resilience Services (CCRS), which provide valuable analyses and insights used to develop risk management strategies for risks related to natural hazards and climate change.

In this role, you will deploy CCRS for ZRS customers primarily in North America and supporting other countries as needed. You will manage customer requests, engage in technical sales discussions with customers, and organize and execute assessments. You will collaborate with other ZRS team members, including Global CCRS Hub specialists and the global CCRS team. We are open to hiring candidate anywhere in the U.S., with a preference to be located near one of the Zurich offices.

Role objectives include:

  • Supporting customers in analyzing and communicating natural hazards and climate change-related physical and transition risks at multi-location and single-location levels.
  • Developing risk mitigation and adaptation solutions.
  • Supporting ZRS global financial (and people) objectives with a focus on Zurich North America (ZNA).

Serving as a technical expert supporting external customers and internal business partners, responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Natural Hazards and Climate Change site assessments (e.g., value and supply chain analyses, multi-location natural hazard analyses, catastrophe models, loss scenarios and estimates, data analysis).
  • Supporting customers in developing mitigation and adaptation strategies for natural hazards and climate risks.
  • Building and assessing relevant tools and processes, collaborating with the ZRS Global CCRS Hub.
  • Engaging in customer acquisition discussions around natural hazards and climate change.
  • Collaborating with ZNA and ZRS leaders to develop a community of specialists, including risk engineers and underwriters, to build ZNA’s CCRS capability.
  • Strengthening ZRS’ profile as a CCRS thought leader (e.g., technical conferences, white papers).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area (e.g., analyzing and addressing environmental- and climate-related risks)
OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area (e.g., analyzing and addressing environmental- and climate-related risks)
OR
  • Zurich Certified Apprentice, including an Associates degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area
AND
  • Knowledge of exposures, controls and best practice risk improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong engineering background with extensive insurance sector knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge of practical engineering and organizational protection measures for natural hazards, with experience in catastrophe modelling tools and outputs.
  • An understanding of climate change science and its practical application.
  • Knowledge of risk transfer mechanisms, especially underwriting Nat Cat requirements, processes, guidelines, and tools.
  • Proficient in data analytics and visualization software using Power BI
  • Experience in consulting services, or a commercial mindset with an ability to identify opportunities for providing services and a strong customer service orientation.
  • The ability to communicate complicated concepts in a clear and compelling manner to all levels of management and stakeholders of various levels of technical proficiency
  • Masters degree in an engineering or natural sciences discipline (preferably civil engineering) + 5 years practical experience in natural hazards and climate change.

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The Compensation provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. The starting salary range for the position is: $122,600.00 - $168,600.00.
