SENIOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SPECIALIST
The Opportunity:
Rio Grande is hiring an experienced Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our Continuous Improvement Team. Working within our collaborative and high energy environment, you will use your extensive continuous improvement and project management skills in completing high visibility, functional and strategic improvement projects. You will collaborate with our Business Directors, Team Leaders and Associates to develop project plans. You will execute those plans in a way that ensures team engagement while communicating progress and effectively navigating obstacles to ensure risks are mitigated as you deliver completed projects on time and on budget. You will learn from, and share your knowledge with, your fellow Continuous Improvement team members. You will work within Rio’s principles of respect, responsibility and results while maintaining a healthy work life balance. What You'll Do:
- **Engage others in your passion for continuous improvement.
- Be practical, action-oriented, collaborative, and enjoyable to work with.
- Work on a wide-variety of high-impact projects using best-practice project management, Six Sigma and Lean tools.
Work collaboratively with all project stakeholders to create clearly defined project goals and, as both project leader and individual contributor, successfully execute your projects.
- Regularly report project status to internal customers and the Executive Director team.
- Use your extensive analytical skills to evaluate data to tell a cohesive story of “what’s happening.” Identify gaps in current processes and recommend changes that result in more efficient and accurate ways of accomplishing the work.
- Work with our Associate Resource Development (ARD) team to develop process improvement training based on the practical application of Lean Six Sigma methods.
- Learn from, and share your knowledge with, your Continuous Improvement team members.
What You'll Need:
- **Strong cultural acumen capable of engaging associates to achieve project goals while ensuring they feel heard and energized by their involvement in the project.
- Ability to effectively develop trust and foster highly effective working relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Continuous learner willing to participate in ongoing self-study and pursue further project management, process improvement and business education/certifications.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with acute attention to detail.
- Ability to synthesize complex problems into a clear story with pragmatic solutions.

- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from ASQ/IASSC or Project Management Professional from Project Management Institute are desirable, however at least 5 years of demonstrated success in the practical application of these skills to bring about positive, high-impact business results are what we’re after.
