From this collaboration our Southwest power delivery team is growing and looking for leaders who have a passion to grow sustainable programs of work. As part of this growth HDR Engineering is looking for a Transmission Line Senior Designer to join, and help lead our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.

The successful candidate will be a part of a national team that provides designer support for large and small scale transmission line engineering projects, while also focused on growing a local team to support national and local Clients. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who wants to learn, take on new challenges, and grow a team.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Senior Transmission Line Designer, we'll count on you to:

• Work independently, and/or direct a team, to perform transmission designs, CADD design, develop design drawings and documents, perform PLS-CADD modeling and/or analysis, prepare material lists, perform field reviews, and other tasks for simple projects.
• Prepare transmission related drawings such as plan and profile drawings, structural details, foundation details, and other engineering drawings in coordination with transmission project engineers.
• Perform calculations, reports and designs on transmission line design projects to support engineers.
• Understand client standards and complete complex tasks, exercising judgment in design criteria, evaluation, and design, subject to review by engineers.
• Partner with Project Managers and Project Engineers to execute Client project.
• Can perform design responsibilities without assistance.
• Communicate and form relationships with Client personnel.
• Ability to grow a team to support local, and national work.
• Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• Associates or technical school degree or combination of education and relevant experience.
• 10 years of experience developing CADD layouts/designs from engineering designs.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and MicroStation or Inroads etc.
• Experience with PLS-CADD transmission line modeling software.
• Ability to be a leader, train junior designers, and work closely with multidiscipline project teams.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm preferred.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
