Role Summary: MSG Sphere Studios is looking for a Senior Digital Artist to join a groundbreaking post-production department based in Los Angeles. As the content delivery team for the MSG Sphere projects, we strive to deliver world-class content at an unprecedented scale on the largest LED screens ever made. Digital Artists work with the overall Compositing team to track/paint/roto and clean up shots, as well as stitching of footage captured using multi-cam arrays and nodal or motion-controlled panoramas. This role may involve work on set to assist in the supervision of capture as well as providing an on-location quick stitch capability. Ideal candidates have a demonstrated ability to problem solve shot-specific issues and work unsupervised to deliver high quality results. The Senior Digital Artist role requires experience working on dome, virtual reality, motion picture, or television projects. This position requires the candidate to perform activities in the creation of content for Sphere shows and to scout for new and innovative methods or workflows as the technology and team expands. Specific Functions/Activities Summary:

• Work directly with the Lead Digital Artist to develop and adhere to stitching and clean up techniques that will assure the highest quality end results.
• Mentor and train the rest of the Digital Artist team to continually upgrade and improve quality and performance.
• Follow all technical guidance while stitching and directly problem solve stitching issues as they occur.
• Test new software and techniques to improve quality and efficiency of clean up and stitching.
• Assist Compositing Supervisor in recruiting and training a world-class Digital Artist team.
• Ensure proper screen mapping and lens validation for the world’s largest, one of a kind LED screen

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5-7 years working in Nuke with an emphasis on roto/paint/cleanup/tracking for VFX.
• High level experience with tracking software such as Mocha Pro or Syntheyes.
• Experience with Large Format productions or VR.
• Working knowledge of PTGUI, and MistikaVR or Boutique, with some experience in Nuke/CaraVR and Fusion a plus.
• An interest in actively tracking advancements in cleanup, such as auto-roto, and/or stitching technology.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, take criticism, and work under high pressure with tight deadlines
