GDIT is seeking a Senior Dynatrace Application Performance Monitoring Engineer to provide support to the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE 's) Office of Corporate Information Systems Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Support Services of their Corporate Business Systems (CBSOM).
How a Senior Dynatrace Application Performance Monitoring Engineer will make an impact:
The Dynatrace Application Performance Monitoring Engineer will be helping Client develop automatic and intelligent observability across our cloud and hybrid environments. Creating and enhancing our customer experience with application monitoring, by being able to identify and resolve issues in real-time before they become impactful. Develop a system that monitors Client's infrastructure and applications that detects anomalies and delivers precise answers prioritized by business impact.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- The Monitoring Tools Engineer will play a key role in configuring, tuning, and managing Dynatrace for cloud systems on Azure.
- Serving as a Monitoring Tools Engineer (Dynatrace) your responsibilities include:
- Plan, configure, implement, manage, and maintain the Dynatrace tool by performing administrative tasks from the console.
- Create new monitors, views, queries, alerts, and reports in Dynatrace.
- Create, maintain, and tune monitoring and notification rules in Dynatrace.
- Act as SME for Dynatrace including day to day administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with Cloud Architects and Engineers to determine requirements for filters, events, alerts, dashboards, and reporting within Dynatrace.
- Set up performance monitoring for the applications, databases, network, and cloud and analyze performance data and act on negative performance trends to identify root cause.
- Identify monitoring gaps and improve monitoring capabilities including using other monitoring tools.
- Based on recommendations from management, implement new and improved processes, change processes, perform new tasks, create reports, and address ad-hoc requests
- Contribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.
- Integrate and maintain APM with ServiceNow to notify appropriate support personnel when events of interest are triggered.
- Integrate multiple system alerts providing one single pane of glass monitoring solution.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in BA/BS with 10 years of increasingly responsible and relevant experience. Without a degree 12-13 years of relevant experience is required
- 3 years of experience in Dynatrace, synthetic URL monitoring, installing agents, forwarders, APIs, performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool.
- Experience – 5-8 years installing, configuring, and maintaining Splunk log analysis.
- Experience with recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommending performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs
- 3+ years of experience in service virtualization on Azure Cloud technologies
- Deep knowledge of relevant enterprise log analysis framework
- Looks for opportunities to improve and automate.
- Familiar with ServiceNow and Jira
- 10+ years of experience with systems administration and operations, including maintaining responsibility for overseeing operational performance, and performing performance trend analysis and alert generation for failed or failing services in a professional IT work environment.
- 10 + years monitoring and troubleshooting experience with two or more of the following APM tools: Dynatrace, Splunk, or SolarWinds
- Skilled in Splunk event analytics
- Scripting: Python, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell
- Familiar with automation, DevOps, CI/CD, & IaC tools and practices: Terraform, Ansible, Integrating with APIs
- Comfortable in Linux and Windows administration and common OS troubleshooting utilities
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting.
