Summary/Position Overview:
The Senior Manager, Global Transfer Pricing will support all aspects of intercompany transactions within Avery Dennison’s end to end value chain across all businesses and will be responsible for business partnership, planning and setting transfer pricing policy, supervising global financial results and audit defense. This role is complex requiring strong financial analysis and technical transfer pricing skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Align tax and transfer pricing structures, strategies, and policies with business initiatives and strategies.
- Collaborate with tax and business leaders, including executive communication, sponsorship, consensus building, and change management.
- Provide tax controversy support as it relates to transfer pricing matters for both US and foreign jurisdictions, including handling tax authority relationships, preparing segmented financial data, responding to IDRs and leading ruling requests.
- Lead and advise senior management on the global transfer pricing risk profile, including implementation of best practices for running risk from ideation through defense.
- Develop and review financial models to analyze planning impact of business and tax planning on intercompany relationships, effective tax rate, cash tax, and risk.
- Assess the impact of new legislation, business restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual US transfer pricing reporting requirements including FIN48, GILTI and BEAT.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships across the business (Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Legal, and Business Operations). Promote the importance of tax alignment and drive performance. Strengthen the tax team's partnership and influencing skills.
- Supervise and coach staff.
- 9+ years of experience, a portion of which was within a transfer pricing specialty practice in either a Big 4 or specialty consulting firm
- Transfer pricing planning experience, including business restructuring, acquisition integration, operational planning, and compliance/defense.
- Experience managing IRS and/or foreign tax audits.
- Experience working with IT, operations and finance teams in developing automated solutions to enable transfer pricing requirements.
- International tax planning experience, including modeling, reporting, and technical consulting.
- Consulting and analytical skills to support decision making.
- Proven experience building collaborative partner relationships across the organization, including Finance, Legal, Treasury, Operations Planning, Corporate Development, and Investor Relations.
- Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree strongly preferred, preferably in Economics, Finance (MBA) or related quantitative field.
- C.P.A., J.D., or similar certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively in a decentralized and matrixed organization.
