Classification: Essential: This position is an Essential Classification and will require employee to report to duty after an emergency or a hurricane.

Schedule: This position generally works a regular weekday daytime shift and may require scheduled and non-scheduled work outside of normal working hours. This may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or other critical times in response to emergencies or at supervisor’s discretion.

Supervision Exercised: No supervision of staff. Ability to lead and manage projects and resources where and when required.

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Manager of Infrastructure and Security / Manager of IT. Considerable independent judgment and initiative is required. Must be able to set schedules and complete work within approved timeframes.

General Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is to plan and maintain the City’s infrastructure. This position also helps the City of Bradenton maximize its investment in technology by implementing solutions to the furthest extent and protecting and preserving its valuable data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· The primary role of this position will be to manage and maintain the City’s network to include managing of the city’s firewalls, switches, backups, routing, VoIP, and virtualization environment.

· Develop enterprise level systems security methodology, including IDS and IPS tools and monitoring.

· Regularly evaluate and work with cybersecurity team to monitor the network and associated systems for vulnerabilities.

· Ensure that the technology infrastructure is secure, reliable, efficient and effective.

· Partner with vendors to provide services to the City of Bradenton.

· Responsible for reviewing and approving all technical solutions.

· Review hardware specifications, request quotations and recommend purchases.

· Monitor release levels, review documentations, install updates, and coordinate with team members and users.

· Make recommendations and manage consultants where needed.

· Create network diagrams and maintain technical documentation.

· Analyze business needs and implement solutions that fulfill the needs in a cost-efficient manner.

· Ensure all servers are legally licensed and maintain licensing documentation.

· Assist with the budgeting process for existing infrastructure and new projects.

· Perform problem analysis and resolution.

· Review and execute the disaster recovery plan.

· Test restores regularly to ensure data validity.

· Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with team members, management, customers, and vendors.

· Promote courtesy and professionalism throughout the City of Bradenton.

Skills and Physical Abilities Required:

· Provide excellent customer service.

· Possess in-depth knowledge of security, network design and maintenance.

· Possess in-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications (desktop and servers), the internet, networking tools, security tools, and server software.

· Exhibit overall understanding of security, applications, data, and networking and how they are used within the City.

· Demonstrate sound verbal and written communication skills, good troubleshooting and analytical skills.

· Ability to make sound decisions, demonstrate flexibility, and work with people at all levels of the organization.

· Present technical information in a non-technical manner.

· Physically move computer and related equipment.

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:Detailed knowledge of enterprise level managed networking and security including routers, switches, firewalls, VLAN’s and IPSEC VPN’s, managed IPS and IDS systems, ACLs and Endpoint protection tools. Emphasis on VMware Server Virtualization, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Windows Server and Active Directory/DC, SQL Server, Web Servers, Citrix, SharePoint, and VOIP. Should possess a demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and general desktop applications.

Education and Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or any related field with at least eight (8) years of experience designing and supporting networks. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

Experience preferred but not required: Brocade Networks, Cisco Networks, Fortinet Firewall Security, , Netmotion Wireless Mobility WAN, and ShoreTel VOIP Telecom.

FDLE/CJIS Requirement: Previous FDLE or other security clearances are preferred. This position requires the candidate be certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for work using systems that contain offender and criminal data. A thorough background check will be required for an offer of employment for this position.

Environmental Conditions: Indoor. Must be able to work closely with others and under possible stressful conditions.

Pay Grade: 124
