Opus Interactive is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Network Engineer who possesses both a solid technical knowledge of datacenter, hosting environments and excellent communication skills. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for working on engineering projects and resolving the most complex customer issues with the primary focus on the area of Network Administration. Ideally, nothing should pass the Senior Network Engineer unless it is an issue that only the Architecture team can address.

As part of specialized engineering function, the Senior Network Engineer has an opportunity to refine their skill set around specific products and services. As time progresses, Senior Network Engineers can grow to Lead Senior Network Engineers and later into Network Architects.

The Senior Network Engineer is to lead their area of specialization and set an example with every customer they handle, and all documentation produced. Some of the most important responsibilities are providing mentorship, training, and support to our junior staff; reducing the overall inflow of tickets and escalations from Support Services allowing Engineering Services to focus on proactive work and customer growth. In addition, the creation of technical documentation, quality oversight, and working with the other departments and Leadership are essential to the success of the Engineering Services team.

To be successful as the Senior Network Engineer, excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills are a must. Also, having strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are mandatory. This role consistently interacts with key clients directly. The ability to spot and communicate opportunities and/or pain points for additional services or solutions we can provide to them is essential. Excellent English language (written and verbal) proficiency and ongoing growth of technical skills are required. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security for the Company and our clients.

General Key Criteria/Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in IT performing network support/administration/engineering and project work.
  • Strong experience designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Ability to deliver and work with carriers to troubleshoot connectivity issues for EPL, peer-to-peer, Azure and AWS circuits (upstream providers, exchanges, client-dedicated).
  • Strong data center experience with colocation facilities, including rack installations, cabling, power management, data center interconnect facilities (Megaport, PacketFabric).
  • Proven ability to perform data floor work, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network equipment and structured cabling, such as: patch panel and MMR management; copper; fiber; optics; and our dark fiber ring.
  • Strong experience with Layer 2/Layer 3 LAN and WAN technologies – switching, routing, firewalling, load balancing, subnetting, wireless controllers, fiber circuits, patching, connectivity, MUX,MPLS, VPN, DHCP, DNS, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP (both IPv4 and IPv6), BGP, OSPF, MPLS, DWDM, etc.
  • Familiarity with Linux/BSD-based operating systems (primarily RockyLinux and similar operating systems) and applications (such as Apache, MySQL, PHP, Mail servers, Bind and other open-source software packages).
  • Experience in purchasing networking equipment, software, infrastructure, cabling, etc.
  • Well-organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams across all levels of the Company to identify and resolve network-related issues.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to accept and provide constructive criticism.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Arista Configuration Essentials (ACE) Certification
  • Windows, Linux/BSD, and/or Virtualization Certifications
  • Scripting experience – Python, shell, Perl, PHP, Powershell
  • Knowledge of Atlassian, especially Jira and Confluence
