What will I be doing?
ü Leading transportation planning projects that improve safety throughout the region
ü Developing subject matter expertise about safety planning, programs, alternatives, best practices, and innovations
ü Preparing reports and present to various audiences including the Technical Advisory Committee, Transportation Policy Council, elected officials, member-government staff, stakeholders, and the public.
ü Participating in policy, regulatory, and technical discussions supporting federal transportation performance measures for safety, and conduct technical follow-through
ü Representing the H-GAC on local, county, and state-level safety initiatives
ü Providing safety-related technical assistance to regional partners and facilitating coordination between local and state partners for state and federal funding sources
ü Coordinating and facilitating meetings for extensive public engagement and stakeholder relationships
ü Developing and reviewing planning content and project recommendations
ü Project management including developing project scopes, budgets, and timelines; and overseeing consultant work including review of deliverables, invoices, and progress reports
Key Qualifications
ü Motivation to collaborate on transportation safety improvements for the traveling public
ü Ability to balance technical skills with stakeholder coordination and ambitious public engagement
ü Experience with transportation planning, preferably related to safety
ü Experience in development and execution of safety plans and programs
ü Strong verbal (in person, online, and by phone), visual, and written communication skills
ü Experience in researching, evaluating, and interpreting complex information and analyzing, preparing, and organizing technical/statistical reports and documents
ü Project management or oversight experience preferred
Do you have
ü Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study (Masters degree preferred)
ü 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, schools or in job related duties
