This position will be focusing primarily on our Alpha and Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunication, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Job Purpose
The Smart Leader – reporting to the APU Manager- will be responsible for all processes and employees on shift within the production area of responsibility
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring the Health & Safety of all employees within area of responsibility at all times.
Carry out daily / weekly H&S audits as defined, including Lead in Blood controls
Carrying out of risk assessments for departmental tasks in conjunction with appropriate skills from within team and engineering
Developing safe working procedures for operations within the department following completion of all necessary risk assessments
Ensuring all Environmental controls and procedures are religiously carried out where necessary
Championing TPM/5S principles, ensuring the highest levels of housekeeping within the department are maintained.
Carrying out investigations relating to Accident or near miss investigations and Disciplinary and Grievance investigations
Ensuring all processes and procedures are adhered to at all times, and quality checks are carried out to the correct frequencies as per Quality basics
Ensuring both timely bookings of production into SAP and that production is in line with the manufacturing plans
Co-ordinating the labour resource across the department on shift, including holiday cover contingencies, and liaising with other Smart Leaders on shift in other areas if necessary, to achieve production priorities
Monitoring & Controlling scrap bookings on shift and implementing corrective actions following all relevant procedures
Accountable for ensuring adequate levels of training and cross functionality across the department
Accountable for achieving daily production plans, and ensuring OEE and productivity metrics are met, addressing any gaps in a timely manner throughout the shift
Full responsibility and ownership for any escalations (until closure) using the MDI approach
Deputising for the APU Manager in his/her absence
Maintaining all KPI shift information
Leading, engaging, motivating and managing the team to deliver their best and to realise their full potential
Managing all people related policies in an open, fair and consistent way
Carrying out of disciplinary warnings where necessary, up to and including 2nd stage, for both
Absence, Timekeeping & Conduct related issues
Qualifications
Minimum of two years Supervisory/Team Leader experience
Experience of SAP, Microsoft Word & Excel
Previous experience of carrying out risk assessments in the workplace
Good communication skills and able to liaise with the Senior Management team and all other areas of manufacturing
