ROLE SUMMARY
Develop and deliver chemical, engineering, analytical or microbiological process technology in support of commercial Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) manufacturing. Performs production troubleshooting, support and improvement. Serve as the primary technical expert for the manufacturing methods, perform or direct scientific laboratory studies, and make recommendations to improve manufacturing reliability, cost, safety, compliance and environmental performance. Support the introduction of new processes into the facility, and support in-sourcing and out-sourcing projects for supply chain optimization. Work closely with the manufacturing plant, review procedures, review process performance data, and solve process problems. Provide technical knowledge, expertise and evaluation for other support functions.
Recommends and conducts exploratory research to produce new knowledge and potential products; conceives, organizes, promotes, and executes ideas and plans to increase productivity and extend knowledge of the field. Develops research proposals to provide a technically and economically sound basis for developing and evaluating new or improved chemistry, equipment, processes, and analytical and physical testing techniques. Reports progress of research work and significance of the results. Recommends utilization of the results or changes in the scope of work or termination of projects. Advises management on new areas of research. May be asked to lead technical or project teams
