Database Administration
Configures and implements appropriate structures to support regular data processing, including institutional data submissions and financial aid eligibility and award cycles.- Automates and maintains the loading processes for data from external sources such as National Student Clearinghouse, ISIRs, ACT, SAT, the West Virginia Department of Education.
- Develops data validation processes to facilitate the public higher education funding formula implementation and state financial aid administration.
- Automates processes and manages the rollover of applications, database tables, packages, and procedures.
- Coordinates and collaborates with the Director of Information Systems regarding database configuration, appropriate data security and appropriate user access.
Application Design and Development
Monitors current systems to ensure integrity and functionality and conducts reviews to identify efficiencies and improvement areas.- Maintains and updates existing front-end (C#/.NET) code for applications comprising the agency’s Financial Aid Management system, institutional data file submission system, and other internally developed applications.
- Designs, builds, and tests new C# web applications using efficient, reliable, and reusable C# and Javascript code, along with CSS to provide intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
- Develops and maintains technical documentation for existing and future applications.
- Manages middleware applications to securely transfer data between the internal database and the SalesForce database.
- Works collaboratively with SalesForce developers to design and implement software applications.
- Works collaboratively with other programmers in the division to develop standards and specifications for new and existing applications and contributes to a shared code repository.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and two years of related experience required.
Master's degree preferred.
At least two years of related work experience within an institution of higher education is strongly desired.
Experience must include web application development using C#, .NET framework, Javascript and CSS, as well as, application/web application documentation and training.
Experience with database programming via standard SQL or Oracle SQL+ and PL/SQL is preferred.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to complete diverse tasks ranging from long-term, multi-stage development projects to fast-paced requests accurately and on time.
- Ability to complete time-sensitive projects while adhering to prescribed deadlines.
- Willingness to work in a collaborative environment and receive constructive feedback from colleagues.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new data analysis, visualization and reporting software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal acumen, and the ability to work productively in a team environment.
- The ability to work with users to understand their needs and translate those into application features.
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
