A. Overall Purpose Of The Job (Brief description of the primary purpose of this position)

The Senior System Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the delivery and ongoing operations of IT solutions that support a global business platform consisting of both internal and external customers and partners.

The Senior System Engineer will be part of a technical team that is responsible for systems infrastructure engineering, enterprise storage, virtualization solutions, in a security hardened environment.

The successful candidate will have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and possess an engineer’s curiosity with a desire to solve complex technical problems.

B. Key Responsibilities (Critical responsibilities and skills of this position, listed in order of importance)

• Work to continuously improve IT services, looking for ways to increase service uptime and improve efficiency of the team

• Provide Tier III support by responding to customer requests, incidents and problems related to our server and storage subsystems

• Anticipate, identify, mitigate, respond to, and resolve issues with storage devices, storage access, and data retrieval

• Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching on to ensure security compliance and system health

• Design and build infrastructure solutions in accordance with business and IT needs

• Perform regular reporting on key system metrics to maintain enterprise system health

• Perform ongoing business continuity and disaster recovery testing to ensure information availability

• Maintain accurate documentation for IT services with industry standard tools

• Develop processes and procedures for ongoing management of IT infrastructure

• Works with other teams in the development, implementation, testing, and rollout of new hardware, software, and applications serving business needs

• Resolve service outages as appropriate

• Troubleshoot technology problems in the end-user compute environment as needed.

• Respond to and resolve alerts generated by monitoring systems to ensure platform health.

• Maintain accurate monitoring with industry standard tools (Solarwinds) and custom monitors

• Perform root cause analysis of major system outages

• Implements configuration changes necessary to support new functionality and bug/issue fixes within the infrastructure

• Complete routine capacity analysis and report to management

C. Job Profile

Required Skills and Knowledge (Brief description of technical knowledge or skills needed to perform the job)

• Storage technologies and architecture, EMC Unity

• Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, technology, and standards in support of all team related procurement and development efforts

• Disaster Recovery and High Availability concepts

• Virtualization technologies, architectures, and solutions: VMware ESX, vSphere, vCenter, Citrix XenDesktop, Citrix XenApp

• Server hardware and operating systems: Dell servers and Windows server operating systems 2012/2016/2019 RedHat server operating systems

• Scripting and automation experience a plus

• Azure experience a plus

• Understanding of enterprise datacenter technologies including TCP/IP networking, data security, SAN / NAS and physical datacenter best practices.

• Operational Knowledge of SQL Server and database concepts

• Research and make recommendations on storage products, services, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

• Develop routines for end-users to facilitate storage best practices, including desktop storage administration.

• Perform file system configuration and management; define and perform server backups and recovery procedures

• Knowledge of Group Policy and other configuration management systems

Required Work Experience (Brief description of the job-related experience needed to perform the job)

• 5+ Years Linux

• 5+ Years Windows Server

• 5+ Years Cloud (Azure Preferred)

• 2+ Years managing on-premise infrastructure preferred

• Experience supporting Mulesoft APIs a plus

• Experience working at a federal contractor preferred

• Experience in the health insurance industry preferred

Required Qualifications (Brief description of the educational background needed to perform the job)

• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information science, and 5 years related work experience

• This position does require someone who can obtain Tier 3/ Level II IT Security Clearance (previously referred to as ADP II Clearance) after being offered a position and maintaining clearance after starting with International SOS.
