Job Summary

Application of Systems Engineering knowledge to support the design, development and testing of products, systems, or subsystems with a focus on requirements management using IBM Rational DOORS and Model Based System Engineering using Cameo Systems Modeler or equivalent. May use other computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of system engineering to conceptualize the architecture of complex systems, subsystems, or assemblies to develop high technology products within a concurrent engineering environment.
  • Analyze and apply customer and military specifications to ensure product and project compliance.
  • Complete system analysis and design as necessary, i.e., risk analysis, safety analysis, FMEA, etc.
  • Define interface requirements for system and between subsystems.
  • Proficiency in requirements management using IBM Rational DOORS to develop and manage requirements traceability matrixes (RTM).
  • Support Model Based Systems Engineering and Systems Engineering certification programs.
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and services.
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress.
  • Generate design reports for the system and subsystems of complex assemblies to effectively document and communicate the design to internal and external customers.
  • Ensure verification of product or subsystem performance to prove the technical design through inspection, analysis, simulation and/or laboratory test.
  • Responsible for proactive risk identification, mitigation, and system integration leading to project completion on time and budget
  • Create conceptual designs, technical documentation, and budget estimates for bid and proposals.
  • Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with all areas of engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer as required

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Fluency using IBM Rational DOORS for requirements management, with custom DXL scripting usage.
  • Strong experience with Model Based System Engineering, using tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Experience performing system engineering analyses, i.e., risk analysis, safety analysis, FMEA, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to aid interactions within Engineering, other internal departments, and external customers.
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to effectively multi-task and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities.
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
